+Geo Ho
I will be heading to LA for work and I am bringing my favorite caching partner with me to keep me company. Well, Mopar's really along to drive the car . . . but don't tell him that. Anyhoo . . . we'll be in town the 20th through the 23rd. We are free in the evenings and all day on Saturday. We would love to get together with the locals for caching and stuff! Well, I'll leave the stuff to Mopar . . . how about some caching and brews instead?? Until then . . . happy caching and stuff!! +webscouter.
Hey if you come through Kansas City stop by and say hi. Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
WS, I already tried that. I invited them to come to Memphis. Turns out the "driving" will only be local to Socal. No cool cross-country roadtrip for the pair, just a dumb airplane and a rental vehicle. Jamie Quote Link to comment
+Team Perks
I'm always game for stuff! Whereabouts in L.A. are you planning on going? Quote Link to comment
+Geo Ho
I'm always game for stuff! Whereabouts in L.A. are you planning on going? We're actually staying at a hotel near LAX. I'm working in El Segundo . . . everything else is up for grabs. We have no caching plans yet. The last time we were there we did a bunch of caches along Mulholland Drive and had a blast . . . though the June Gloom left something to be desired . . . Suggestions are welcome. . . Happy caching and stuff! Quote Link to comment

+Team Perks
Most of my cache finds are outside of L.A. proper, but if you're looking to stay not too far from El Segundo...There are some neat hides in downtown (if you're into micros). Venice area has some interesting virtuals and a few other neat hides that I've found. Pasadena similarly has some great caches. There are some nice hides on the UCLA campus (though I work there and still haven't had time to find any of them!). If you want to get out a little farther and pick up a few more caches on Saturday, I definitely recommend hitting the Conejo Valley--lots of great caches, excellent cache density (you could easily hit triple-digits with a little help planning the routes), some fantastic hikes...and, as it turns out, a CITO event on Saturday. Or I'm happy to give you a tour of the Antelope Valley, if you like cold, wind, and Joshua trees. Quote Link to comment
+Sgt Stitches
I live in Santa Cruz, but have spent a lot of time on business trips in El Segundo the last year... I've hit all the caches around the airport and here are a few that are my favorites: CLOSE TO AIRPORT Mig Alley - an easy multi with interesting surroundings if you like old planes Red light return - micro requiring short walk along harbor entrance and beach LAX Plane Spotting - Micro from a small park overlooking LAX runways where you can watch the big planes taking off and landing. Heart of Venice - micro in a unique residential area. PALOS VERDES A Short drive south (20-30 minutes?) of LAX is the Palos Verdes area. Very high concentration of caches, many with nice views: Some of my favorites: Amazing Floating Rocks Cache Malaga View Malaga Vista All three of those can be reached from a single parking spot. Nice if you want to spend some time near the beach. SAN PEDRO The South end of Palos Verdes (San Pedro is about 25 minutes away by highway if traffic is not too bad) also has some nice ones: There are five in one park (Peck Park) by "Snowland". He had some pretty nice camo jobs and the hike for all 5 is about a mile. Search for closest caches to "Peck Park Trail" Also in San Pedro: Cool Shade - Escargot Tree - Nice Ocean views from high bluffs and views of Channel Islands on a clear day Sunken Treasure - Very weird area, you've got to see to believe. +Geo Ho
A post over at Southern California Geocachers might get a few more responses. I would love to have posted in the SoCal forums except that I seem to be unwanted there! What's up with that?? If you don't want us to come to SoCal . . . you could at least say so to our faces! Sheesh! Happy caching and stuff?? PS: Don't be mad at US . . . WE didn't bring on the deluge!! It wasn't us, I swear!! Edited January 12, 2005 by Geo Ho Quote Link to comment
+Team Perks
All right, all right...You found us out. We don't want you here. Quote Link to comment
FullOn
Well, quit trying to hack our site and that won't happen! I'll fix it up for you so you can get back on. We had been hacked a few times in the last couple of months so I put some pretty aggresive protection on the site. Quote Link to comment
