McDeHack
I had a question for the Etrex /USB thread. I have just got a serial to USB converter; it loaded OK and is seen on port 6. When I try to send from EasyGPS to the Etrex, I get the message ‘cannot connect to comport 1’ HELP How do I get EasyGPS to see comport 6? Quote Link to comment

mickledore
I get the same message if my printer or fax are switched on. Sometimes have to switch them off, then switch off and restart (after waiting 10 secs) the whole PC. Quote Link to comment
souperteam
I couldn't get the EasyGPX to work with USB. I loaded the GSAK program instead and it's worked from the very first try. Quote Link to comment
stevexxx
Mine works great with gsak Quote Link to comment
McDeHack
Thanks all. I could only get com 1 or com 3 with EasyGPS. I tried GSAK and there is no problems. It downloaded my test waypoint. Again thanks to all. McDeHack EasyGPS is dead. Long live GSAK. Quote Link to comment
McDeHack
Further to my last post, I said that GSAK downloaded to the Etrex (Yellow) but I cannot find them. Where have they gone? Quote Link to comment
CuplaKiwis
Should be listed under the first six letters of the waypoint name as written in GSAK Quote Link to comment
McDeHack
Oh yea! I found them but it missed out the first letter which was a capital then a space. It also loaded it as the 'code' as I did it twice.. Thanks again. I'm new to all this high tec stuff. Quote Link to comment
one4zorro
I don't know if this will help but if you configure your 'send waypoints to gps' box like the one below, you will get each of the waypoints with the GC removed and the type of cache. This makes them easier to find on your GPS and tells you if its a traditional/multi or other. So GCJZD0 (which is a traditional cache) will come up on your GPS as JZD0-T. Use the code %drop2-%typ1 Hope this helps. Martin Edited January 6, 2005 by one4zorro Quote Link to comment
McDeHack
The next question. When I want to send GSAK to Memorymap What extention do I use? the default one that was sent was not reconised by MM (I am useing MM2003) Quote Link to comment
Chris n Maria
GSAK sends csv files to MM - but you need to download the latest version of MM from the MM site and it should work OK. cheers Chris Quote Link to comment
Stuey
GSAK sends csv files to MM - but you need to download the latest version of MM from the MM site and it should work OK. McDehack is using MM2003. MM2004 is the one with the csv import facility, but fear not.... you have to export Maptech Exchange Format MXF files from GSAK. These are then imported into Memory-Map using the Overlay | Import menu option. You then need to locate the folder where you saved the file, and change the drop down file typelist to Maptech Terrain Mark files (mxf). Choose the file you exported from GSAK and Bob's your Aunties live in lover! Quote Link to comment
McDeHack
Many thanks to Stuey. Task sorted. My Noodle says "give Stuey a bonio or some gravey bones" Also thanks to all others for suggestions and help. As for downloading 2004 I dont think that I need the upgrade options just for caching. Apart for the fact it costs £89. I will be back with more problens I expect. Quote Link to comment
