wandering beagle
Having recently moved to Seattle, we are looking for some good weekend or day hikes in the area. At this point we feel overwhelmed with all the options, actually . Someone gave me a book with over 1000 hikes. What are some of your favorite parks/trails that you would suggest, that also have cache opportunities? Just curious what the locals like. Tntrackers Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
Cougar Mountain Regional Park is a good one. Check out Newcastle, De Leo Wall Newcastle, Far Country Lookout Long View Peak among others. Quote Link to comment
+chamois-shimi & special K
This is one of my dad's favorite hikes, although the last time he and I went up there, we had no clue about geocaching. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a4-12ba2cd8141e Edited January 6, 2005 by chamois-shimi Quote Link to comment

Otter Falls is on the way to Dream Cache and NOt Quite So Dreamy and is an excellent in of itself: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...fb-3439f693125f If you like steep climbs...and I mean STEEP http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...31-09004c374c24 Do a nearest caches from Check the Mail cache and you'll see many other options Quote Link to comment
MarcusArelius
One of my all time favorites is Gem cache. It an absolutely beautiful summer hike near the Alpental ski area! Quote Link to comment
+Criminal
Dream Lake was an awesome dayhike, especially since it took me all day. There are far too many good dayhike caches to list! Quote Link to comment
+GeoRoo
I'd agree with Criminal. Pick a zip code and you'll find dozens of great hiking trails and parks anywhere in West. WA. It's amazing the diversity of caches and locations we have to pick from. I've only scratched the surface this past year of caching. Could WA state be the nirvana of geocaching?.....Here's my pick for miles of day hiking trails not too far from Seattle with 5 caches. Lords Hill Quote Link to comment
+Right Wing Wacko
Two great day hikes that have caches along the trail are: Barclay Lake Trail. This might still be accessable this time of year if you don't mind a little snow, but I would probably wait until spring. Another Shorter hike, but every bit as good is Kelcema Lake, however I wouldn't even think of it this time of year.... another one to save for spring. Quote Link to comment
wandering beagle
Wow! Thanks for all of the suggestions. Ive got this book titled "Pacific Northwest Hiking" by Foghorn Outdoors that has a lifetime worth of options. I was actually thinking of heading over to Cougar Mtn first since its fairly close to Seattle. I think I'll wait until next weekend though--I don't get the impression that the county is quick to clean the roads of snow very quickly here! Quote Link to comment
