+ChicagoCanineCrew
ETA: OOPS! I meant to write "withOUT freezing!" I have been having problems with my user Magellan GPS3000 (not getting a lock) so finally decided to clear it an re-initialize it. I have heard it can take up to 2 hours to initialize/find the first lock... Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to initialize without freezing to death or ruining the GPS in the snow? Team Onebrow
ChicagoCanine, I had the same problem and I just recently returned it to Magellan. The 2 differences between your situation and mine is mine is a Meridian Gold and it was only 2 weeks old! I am now waiting for the unit to come back! +Renegade Knight
I haven't ever been able to get a signal from the dashboard. :/ Some cars have a film in the window that blocks the signal. Pontiac Montana's being one of them. Your GPS should be able to get reception from a side window, or your homes front window. Or you could leave it on a chair outside for the 2 hours.
