Firth of Forth Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 (edited) My aim for 2005 is to become a paperless cacher, but I have got stuck on the last hurdle. What's the easiest way to download the filtered cache file from GSAK to the PDA using Gpxsonar? Edited January 1, 2005 by Firth of Forth

Stuey Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 What's the easiest way to download the filtered cache file from GSAK to the PDA using Gpxsonar? Hi Sally, Happy New Year to you! What I do is create a .gpx file using GSAK, save it to my desktop on the PC, then right click on the file and choose "Send to Pocket_PC My Documents" (or whatever you called your PDA that ActiveSync recognises). When you next sync your PDA, the .gpx file will be copied to the My Documents fiolder on your PDA. You then open it with GPXSonar and there it is!
ClydeE Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 My aim for 2005 is to become a paperless cacher, but I have got stuck on the last hurdle. What's the easiest way to download the filtered cache file from GSAK to the PDA using Gpxsonar? GPXSonar just needs a GPX file. In GSAK, File=>Export=>GPX Then transfer the generated file to your PPC (or just output to a memory card supported on your PPC) Note, when you generate this file make sure you uncheck the box "Include GSAK extra fields in export" (GPXSonar does not use or support these)
Firth of Forth Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 (edited) Done it. Thanks to Stuey and Clyde (who has already led me by the hand through this techie maze!). I knew that I would get a speedy and helpful response here. One last question though - presumably it's easier to surf through the cache names on the PDA if they are listed alphabetically? Or not? What do you find is best? Edited January 1, 2005 by Firth of Forth
kbootb Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 You can order them as you like on the PDA by just clicking on the column heading. e.g. to sort by name click on the name heading. Clicking it again puts them in descending order. So if I see on my GPS the waypoint GC1234 it nearby, I sort by waypoint and scroll to find it. If I know the name of the cache I sort on name.
Firth of Forth Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 Easy when you know how!! Thanks again. Will close topic now.
