hgilbert
Anyone knowledgable on the topic about which I'm posting this inquiry? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+jbar
It works very well. I use it to convert pocket queries to Topo 5.0 format for plotting and to convert them for import to cachemate.on my palm. Edited January 1, 2005 by jbar Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
It's an outstanding app. It lets you filter caches, list caches on a route, slice and dice your data any way you choose, and then (thanks to GPSBabel under the hood) it lets you export it in dozens of formats. I send my data to MapSouce software, National Geographic Topo! Cachemate, for my PDA, directly to my GPS. It loads names in a style that you can customize, and even exports hints or other information. It is virtually error free, and any user problems are quickly addressed by Clyde, either here in the forum, or by direct e-mail. In short, I can't think of a software program with which I've been more pleased. Quote Link to comment
+TheHFamily
I am a big fan of GSAK. I am not sure what you mean by "safe"? If you mean the post about it being picked up by a spyware program - then it was found that the spyware program incorrectly marked GSAK. I am a very careful computer user and I have had no problems with the program and as other people have said it runs and does its job very well. Hope this helps. TheHFamily Quote Link to comment
+Marky
Yes, and I highly recommend it. It's a great app. --Marky Quote Link to comment
+NickL
It is a great app. Does every thing I want it to do and more. Plus great support. edit to correct spellings Edited January 1, 2005 by NickL Quote Link to comment
+Nazgul
No problems at all after several months of use, including a few version updates. It's running on Windows XP on an IBM ThinkPad. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
Actually, it's probably somewhat unsafe. It's addicting, and using it may result in a big loss of time. Other than that, though, there are no problems at all with it. Anti-spyware apps return false postives now and then. Quote Link to comment
+blue2 and the old jarhead
It's the best. Really. Quote Link to comment
+robert
It's safe as long as you remember it's just like any other knife. Cut away from your body and whenever handing it to someone, always hand it to them by holding the blade, and aiming the handle towards them. Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
Even though I like the Watcher interface better GSAK is a fine tool. And completely safe. Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
CLICK HERE for 5 PAGES of validation of the new version alone. The earlier version got 10 PAGES. Quote Link to comment
+Quoddy
I've had no problems. The program is my absolute favorite and I don't know how I ever got along without it. Quote Link to comment
+Cabinwood
I'll add my 2 cents! Go for it. Great program and great support! Quote Link to comment
+Team DEMP
GSAK is a tremendous asset to any geocacher and you won't be disappointed. You can start using to see what it can do, and then pay for it. It'll be one of the least expensive and most used investments you'll make in this hobby. Quote Link to comment
+NickL
Okay maybe it just how my mind is working ring now. I will not get into why it is here… But why seek validation from only satisfied user. By definition validation is proving that the software function to meet the users needs (defining the user and there needs a WHOLE separate off topic and exam issue), Yes I know I am nit picking on this (for those in the software arena) but I just spent way to many hours not caching and working over things like this. Just for the record, I love what I can do with GSAK, it does everything I want it to do and more. Add to it the beyond outstand support that Clyde provides, and you are in software ecstasy. CoyoteRed
My personal opinion is there is no better app for organizing my nearby caches. Period. Quote Link to comment
AJK
I find it invaluable for trips away from my home area - I use it in the car while caching in combination with Streets and Trips, and when I can't get internet access. I liked it enough to register my copy. Quote Link to comment
+DomHeknows
i love it too - whats the betting clyde just puts this thread on his homepage? (or maybe clyde has a sock puppet account to solicit these recommendations the only "unsafe" things that I can mention are that it makes it even easier to do whatifs and analyze your data so you waste even more time at the computer rather than caching. It also checks for updates (which some paranoid people/firewalls might not like) but never downloads them unless you tell it to AND you can turn this off if you don't like it (but you'd be mad) Quote Link to comment
+OzarksJim
Count me as a very satisfied GSAK user. I don't think I could geocache without it. It's helped save me reams and reams of paper using the Cachemate export to Palm OS functionality. It has lots of great features and I'm finding out all the time the many things it can do. Try it! You'll like it! Quote Link to comment
+ZackJones
Add me to the list of those singing the praises of GSAK. It's a fantastic program and is EXTREMELY well supported by its author ClydE. Props to Chief Babelhead Robert Lipe as well. Quote Link to comment
