Pocket Queries

Hi

Sometimes you can select too many variables are the results mean no caches at all. Just go through your create process again. The only things you really need are a zip code to base the center on, number of caches and caches you have not found. ask for it on the same day.. and with in an hour your email should have it waiting for you.

You can pm me if you need more help.

Hi ngisld,

Did you check a box for a different day than today?

Most times the error is that you checked too many boxes!

Sometimes, checking just one too many boxes will cause it.

After you fill out what you think you want, click the submit button at the bottom, the screen refreshes, on the top is a "new" blue line, click on run the search to see your output results.

If it's not what you desire, check/uncheck one box at a time till it delivers the desired results. Note this program is so "user - unfriendly", it's real easy to get "null" results!

If you need more help, describe what you want to do, someone will chime back in!

This will not prevent you from getting the email. If the filter results in no caches being selected you'll get an email stating that the PQ is empty.

Two things can prevent you from getting the email:

1. The email address in your profile isn't valid.

2. You didn't check at least one box in the day of week column.

If you list what caching programs you already have, it will help! <_<

can anyone explain the reason for selecting the day of the week?

I don't follow why it isn't just a one-time-deal, that you recieve the result when it comes to the email, and you use it how you use it.

Actually, it CAN be a one-time deal if you check the appropriate box. The reason for the email is because they don't want to run the risk of their server(s) bogging down from people running a lot of long queries simultaneously. By sending it via email, they choose when they will run the query (ie: if they're already a bunch of 'em running, your query will have to wait till there's adequate CPU time available, just like in the old days of submitting batch jobs).

Or you can use GeoToad which violates Geocaching.com's terms of use but gives you near-instant results. However, I've found that the PQ's generally arrive not too long after I submit 'em so GeoToad isn't needed.

I travel in my job all the time. I fly home on wednesdays so I have my pocket querie run every wednesday. Sometime during the week I change the zip code for the next area I will be working in. I don't know how I was able to cache before I started using this.

Brilliant idea meaking the PQs part of the premium membership, now they're guaranteed my $30 yearly as long as I'm caching.

If I set the PQ up on a Wednesday, any caches placed between Wednesday and Friday when I get my PQ won't be in there.

Not true. I have mine set up to deliver once a week on Friday. It delivers the information current as of the PQ generation, not as of two months ago when I set up the queries.

If I'm travelling to another area, I'll set up one for two days before I leave, and another one for the day I leave. If I get a chance to load the second one, I have current information. If I can't get it, or if a system problem occurs that precludes generation and/or delivery, I still have one that's fairly current.

That's what I meant. He was asking why would you set up a PQ for a day other than "today". If I make a PQ right now (Saturday) and have it delivered today but don't go out 'til next Friday, anything placed between now and then won't be in the PQ (since I'm getting it today). I set mine for Friday and/or Saturday so I have the highest probabilty of having the most up-to-date PQ... which is the exact same thing you do.
