+Honest John & Suzies Jule
Would It Be Bad Etiquette To Have A Memorial Bug? What I would like to know (Your Opinions) if it would It be bad etiquette to have a Memorial Bug? My Grandmother recently passed away. I have an astrology coin with her sign on one side, and Her name, and birthday on the other. The coin is the size of a silver dollar, in a bezel with a loop, to easily to hook a Travel Bug tag to. I would name it after Her and it will mean a lot to me to see Her still kicking around the world as she did like to travel., Your comments are appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+Eric K
I don't see any problem with it. However, be aware that not everyone reads the mission of a TB and alot of them go missing. So as long as you won't be disappointed it that happens I say go for it. Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
Bad Etiquette?!? Try good idea and pretty darn honorable if you ask me. Quote Link to comment
+Birdsong-n-Bud
There are several memorial TB's. I've even seen memorial caches. There is even one TB out there with their uncle's ashes traveling the world! Compared to that, a coin is pretty tame. I say go for it. You can name it after her...whatever you want. It's your TB. +zygote2k
seriously- I think you could even put some ashes in a small container and make that a bug. Just think how much she could get around then. sounds funny, but there are stranger memorial services like the company that sends an ounce of ashes into low earth orbit. Quote Link to comment
+orome
I enjoy helping TBs along. Memorial ones all the more so, especially if the tagged item gives some idea as to its importance. I love learning about others. Quote Link to comment
Bonsai Brat
The thought is good, but I agree with the first replyer, and that is to remember that TBS ARE EXPENDABLE, believe me, I have lost a nice one. Well, I take that back, I don't know where it is....as long as you keep that in mind and can acknowledge the risk involved, I see no problem. Quote Link to comment

You're supposed to scatter this dude's ashes around every state. He's even made it into canada. Quote Link to comment

+wimseyguy
I think that is a great and noble idea. Just be prepared to not be heartbroken if and when it goes missing. Quote Link to comment
+Honest John & Suzies Jule
Well we hope the integrity of Geocaching, and Geocacher's, will prevail, to help Her travel on Her endless journey safely. +Chirpz
I maintain a memorial travel bug. Check out Phantom Menace. A memorial to Capt Ed DeBee. I highly recommend the practice. His family loves it. It has been muggled once, and lost for 2 years, but now it is circulating again. During the "lost" period, it was in the hands of a soldier deployed overseas so it wasn't really lost. I'm currently planning some more. Quote Link to comment
+zombie_response_team
I think it would be wonderful as long as the item is not a one-of-a-kind thing. We have thought of doing something for our child who passed away. Quote Link to comment

Neos2
I have one for my father. It's given me a lot of good moments. It seems like every time I start really missing Dad, someone picks up that TB and I get a little message from my father. It's almost like he isn't really gone, he's just somewhere else right now. PastorJon
Check out TBB637. This little guy has travelled nearly 10,000 miles since he was released in March of 2004. We were privileged to carry him around for a couple of days, and took lots of pictures. I thought it was really cool that he had been travelling for 4 years. I'd like to think that memorial TBs would be less likely to go missing... but there are times when human nature disappoints, so be sure to be aware of that possibility. Quote Link to comment
+vw_k
I've found memorial TBs before and think they are a good idea. Although as has already been mentioned, TBs do sometimes go missing, due to inexperienced cachers or caches getting muggled, so be prepared for that to happen. I found a TB that was the collar of somebodys dog who died, to be honest I thought that was a little creepy, especially as it was all worn and dirty, but a coin or plaque of a relative would be appropriate. +derangedlunatech
If properly done, I think it would be a wonderful thing. Here's a coin I found recently in a cache: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...2a-66a27095a73f Quote Link to comment
