dantonac
How do I find the state laws about geocaching in state parks in my state, NC? Call the state park office? You may also be able to contact one of the mods for your region's forums as they may already know what the policy is in your state since they have to approve caches. Most states have the body of their legislation available online somewhere, but searching through it for something like geocaching is likely to be difficult to find and any relevant laws may not use the term geocaching at all, but may be more generic like laws against littering. If one wished to interpret an anti littering law as encompassing geocaching they certainly could. Quote Link to comment
+wimseyguy
Currently there is a very restrictive policy for placing a cache in NC State Parks. You must pay a $35 fee for a three month permit. Full details can be found at ncgeocachers.com/policy. This really amounts to a de facto ban, as it is free to place a cache anywhere else with appropriate permission. Discussions have begun to amend this policy, but these things move very slowly. Dantonac is right about one thing; searching for geocaching on the DENR website produced zero results. +briansnat
NC has very bad rules. Probably one of the least cache friendly on in the country. Quote Link to comment
