Coming Back Up North!

Kealia

Recommended Posts

See now, the morning guy that I am would say we start at 8am...but I know how the rest of you like to sleep... ;)

The park is well marked on the West side of 203 (Monroe/Fall City Road), just South of Downtown and North of the school.

If you want directions from your hotel, let me know and I'll whip something up for you.

edit: Deleted parking coords since Runhills beat me to it.

I wouldn't go any later than 10 if you want to get all the caches in the park. I would suggest parking by my Tolt River Crossing and the nearby Confluence and then make the short drive to the park.

The entrance to the park is the road just to the north of the road with those two caches. Then you could get the caches in T/M park. If I had time I could think of a good route to follow in the park since I've done all those caches except the MTB multi there. But I could answer any questions about them. I have to do my German homework for tonight.

Kealia, I'm leaving something for you to pick up in my Tolt River Crossing cache. ;)

Ok, so how about either 8:30 or 9:00 then?

I'll look up the area and coords and shoudl be able to get there by Mapquest/Google maps. If I have trouble I'll let you know, thanks.

LittleBlue - thanks! I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Do the suggested parking coords map with LittleBlue's suggestion?

I'll meet you as early as you want to start. There are quite a few caches that we can do in and around town until others show up...I'm easy.

Parking for LB's would be more like 47 38.302 & 121 55.015. As for Confluence, it's a drive by and parking is within 30 feet. Just use the coords for the cache.

After my cache and L&R's cache, you can park at the main area for T/M Park. Then there's SG #? 'Thing1 and Thing2' to the south on the service road, Up a Tree in Carnation, along the river to the north. The others are all up the trails above the river to some degree or another. Wow, what a view, Copper Top, Carnation Tree Farm Treasure, Burn, Baby, Burn, and not sure about the MTB multi one. Its the only multi in the park. There's also one halfway up the trails whose name escapes me right now. I did the first 3 in that sentence about a month ago in about 2- 2 1/2 hours, just taking it easy. That is, I didn't run ;) .

When I find out when you're meeting I might be able to stop by with the girls and say hi. Allanon's suggestion is a good one- if some can't start til late, then maybe those who can be there early could do some of the others in the area. You could drive out Entwhistle and get 2 caches there- and the 2 in town.

The Redmond watershed is pleasant but I recommend Tolt/McDonald; it will be more of an adventure with the bridge crossing and hill climb to some views.

I have to agree with Runhills, besides I have two caches in the park!

SG # 60 - Thing "1" & Thing "2" easy one in the south east part of the park along the river and SuperGenius #7 Copper Top that is almost smack dab in the middle of the park. Copper Top is CA transplant!

See y'all Friday AM, but I'm still not sure about the time or where the meet point is going to be. Yes I did read the thread, but ya know Pepper is always a little confused.

If you meet early enough, I might be able to join you first the first one or two caches. Then I will need to dart.

Whether or not I make it, I would appreciate immensely if people would record their tracks while walking the trails and email them to me (GPX, Ozi or LOC formats preferred). I want to create a trail map of the area and the more data, the better!

I'll meet you at 8:00, Jester. That'll give me early time to find a few others in the area first... :tired:

As for parking, I drove through the area on the way home tonight and took a couple waypoints.

The entrance for Confluence and parking for Tolt River Crossing is accessed at approximately 47 38.326, 121 54.979.

The location for the turn to the parking lot at Tolt/MacDonald park is at approximately 47 38.653, 121 54.929.

See everyone on Friday morning.

Well I can't get out that early. Looks like I will be playing catchup. Hey Allanon, was that your cell # you gave me? I can give you a ring when I get to the area to track you down.

Since I will be getting there late, if others are going to arrive later I would be up for sticking around after Kealia has to leave to look for some of them.

8 AM tomorrow at the Confluence parking. I'll be there.

Which coordinates do we meet at: Runhills or Allanons?

Ditto. 8:00 am it is.

Just confirm exactly which coordinates we're meeting at and I'll be there.

If I get lost it's becuase Allanon gave me bad directions. B)

Going to grab some dinner and then I'll be back.

Since I haven't given any directions yet...Hmmmmmm...that's OK, it's always my fault anyway. B)

The coords I gave in my last post were just "Drive By" numbers for the TURNS off 203 that lead to the parking areas!!!

I'd lean towards meeting at the big parking lot coords that runhills posted and then pooling to the other ones.

Parking for Tolt/McDonald is

47 38.650

121 55.465

Be sure to check the hides by Nolenator for a trail map of the area.

Ok, so these coords at 8:00am - got it.

Will somebody be bringing a trail map? I THINK I have all the caches in my PDA but it was acting up last night.

OK, off to dinner now - seriously.

Hmm the 10 AM group... I think that is just me, unless I overlooked a few posts. I will get there when I can, work keeps trying to give me more jobs cause they see a blank in my schedual on Friday. I have to keep beating them off with a stick. Don't wait for me, I will call when I get there. I am not willing to slow the group down if I am unforseably delayed.

Oh well, they are good directions... :D

All,

Thanks again for coming out in full force today - I had a great time.

I'll log my TB drop offs in just a few so you can pick them up (I know LittleBlue is anxious to have the Anchor in her posession officially so it can proudly be worn around her neck).

Jester, thanks for the suggestion to hit XXX! THe burger was really good and the root beer was amazing.

MA - Yes, they still serve it in a frosted mug - a bigun', too!!

Pepper - glad I finally met you.

Allanon and everybody - thanks for coordinating the good time today.

I'll bump this thread when I know I'm coming back again.

Until then......

Kealia's high-beam wristwatch came in very handy for looking inside crevices for caches.

It was great getting out and about today have felt cooped up for the last couple of weeks recovering from my bike accident. Nice meeting some of you and seeing many of you again. Sad hearing about Pepper leaving but I guess it's not fair for us to be selfish and want her to stay here.

Great picture, Pepper! I'm sorry you were so speedy and zoomed up that hill without us! I was looking forward to chatting!

Thanks, everyone, for the great fun today and for putting up with my smug 'Found it already!' all day! (Even tho most of the time I couldn't remember exactly where I'd found it...)

Glad I got to prove that I *had* signed all those log books!

Looking forward to the next adventure!

(and Thing 2 was proudly telling her sister all about the 'cache machine' she did today!)

True, but click on the "Click for Price" link and it gives the price and then click on the link in the shopping cart ($100 coupon or something like that) and you can see the discount. The 60C is something like $295.

edit for spelling.

Not to nit, but I was looking for your adventure, not your price. You made it sound like there was a story to read.

In addition, for those that were interested in my 'adventure' in ordering the GPSMAP 60C, here is a Link

Ahhh...sorry.

The story was:

In February that website offered a $50 rebate on the 60 (and maybe other) series Garmin receivers...but the rebate ended on Feb 28.

So to treat myself to a birthdy present, I ordered one the last week of Feb. Only to find out that on March 1st, the rebate went from $50, to $100. If I'd have waited 6 days, I'd have gotten it for the $295 price.

Not much of a story, but it did piss me off. But since people were interested in the deal (that now runs until July if I'm not mistaken), I posted the link.

Sorry for the confusion.
