+LittleBlue
However, I imagine we'll all be pretty tired after Squak....perhaps a pub is a better chaser. I will need to get back to the valley right after the hike, but I'm up for something tonight (wed evening)... Quote Link to comment
+Pepper
Okay, it looks like we have a plan: 8:00 AM at the Sierra Ct. Trailhead tomorrow morning. Should we get a head count? I think these people have spoken up as coming or wanting to come: Kealia hydnsek LittleBlue runhills LandRoverII Lucy Pepper * Weightman * Jester * Moun10Bike (* indicates possible attendance) Did I miss anyone? <Sigh>Pepper cannot make an Eight O-clock meet time. Somebody has to get the children up, feed, and off to school. Y'all have fun! Pepper Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
Moun10Bike, are you not 100% going to make it? It looks like you listed yourself as *potential*?? Just got done with meetings and am going to grab dinner and then head to bed. Got NO sleep last night and am exhausted. Will check in again a bit later but I will definitely be there. +WeightMan
This @#$%^^$#@ cold is still hanging on. I have been fighting this off for over two weeks now and it still wants to stick around. Since I will have two very long days this coming weekend and so it is better if I stay home and take care of this thing. Sorry I would love to cache with you folks tomorrow, but it just won't work out. Maybe next time. Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
Sorry I won't get to see you again WeightMan. Next time EDIT: Exhausted - going to bed. Will do final check here in the morning before leaving but am planning on being there. Edited January 27, 2005 by Kealia Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
See everyone tomorrow morning! Weather looked good in the forecast... Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
Pepper and Wieghtman, I'm sorry to hear that you can't make it. It turns out I can! So, I'll see everyone tomorrow at 8:00 AM! Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
I'm going to beg off also. I have a toe that got irritated on walk (caching) the other day and doesn't appreciate more walking. Well, it's a good thing I've done all the caches up there, so I'm only missing out on the fellowship (which is probably more important). Hope to see you again, Kealia. Quote Link to comment
+hydnsek
Cache Ahead hasn't posted here, but she plans on coming too. So it sounds like the list is: Kealia hydnsek LittleBlue runhills LandRoverII Lucy Moun10Bike k7-wave cache ahead See y'all bright and early! Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
Flight home got delayed just a bit and I was lucky enough to find a hot spot at Sea-Tac so I could keep myself entertained for while.... Thanks to all of you that made it out today - I had a great time exploring the mountain and chatting with you all. Thanks a million for making Washington feel like home. Hope to see you all on the next trip and meet a few that didn't make it today. Guess I have to go caching this weekend to drop off the TBs I picked up. No, really honey, I HAVE to . I'll log my finds tonight/tomorrow morning so I can pick up the TBs (and other things ) after they've been properly dropped. Edited January 28, 2005 by Kealia Quote Link to comment
+Allanon
Glad to hear youse guys had a good time. Sure wish I could have joined in, but it's the last week of the fiscal quarter at work and when I asked they just laughed at me...and my boss even caches! And huffing and puffing up and down a mountain would have been soooooo much preferrable to what I was really doing today... Hope to see you next time Kealia, but expect a message/e-mail from me as soon as I get my sig items made... Quote Link to comment
nolenator
The funny thing is my throat was tickling all day. Argh! Peace, Nolenator Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
Fun fun fun! Ok, maybe I'm a little sore... Thanks again to my ever tolerant husband for making room in his schedule to cover some kid picking up and dropping off so I could make it on the hike. It was my first big mountain caching hike. I hope it will be the first of many! Since the girls came along we don't do the longer hike, elevation gain stuff very often anymore. We had never even hiked at Squak- so it was a double first for me. Had great fun chatting with everyone and enjoyed hiking with Chester the canine cacher. Hope we'll do this again some time! ChestertheACD
ARF, ARF, ARF I hope that everybody had half as much fun as I did. Thanks for the treats and not making me stay on leash. I hope to go on many more fun jaunts, the sooner the better! Chester Quote Link to comment

Moun10Bike
Great hike! My recorded track clocked in at 7.39 miles when all was said and done. I have some updating of my maps to do, as we discovered that some of the trails don't go exactly where the Green Trails map indicates. Kealia, I look forward to your next trip up here! Maybe then we will have a chance to sit down in the pub and visit a little more - sorry I was so rushed near the end today, but duty (or SWMBO) calls! By the way, here's what the view from the Squak Mountain summit looks like on a clear day (taken in January of 2003 on my last hike up there): Quote Link to comment
+LandRover
Had a great time today. This was probably my longest hike I have take since highschool (1981) and boy can I tell and will be able to tell even more come tomorrow morning. Good to meet new cachers and some that I haven't seen since way back at the GHCM three weeks ago . FYI the locationless is on page 8 of the listings. My track log say 6.73 miles but I like Moun10Bike's numbers better. Quote Link to comment
+evergreenhiker!
Glad you all had fun! Glad to hear the original log is still at Tie Mill...lot of you know that 's my first ever cache and I plan on visiting it for my three year anniversary. Quote Link to comment

Moun10Bike
My track log say 6.73 miles but I like Moun10Bike's numbers better. Don't forget that I ran back on the Old Grizzly Trail to see where it intersected with the Central Peak Trail. My out and back on that probvably accounts for most of that, plus there was my trip with runhills to hide the TerraCache. EGH, I took a photo of you log at Tie Mill, as well as mine and EraSeek's! Moun10Bike
FYI the locationless is on page 8 of the listings. The locationless is "Not the Benchmark". I was about to log it, but then saw that the owner asks for "plaques" with coordinates. I see that many of the submissions on the page include signs, but I emailed the owner just to see if it was OK to log it with what we found. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
I heard back from the cache owner of "Not the Benchmark", and he's given us his blessing to log the cache. Wahoo! Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
A first for me! Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
FYI - I'm down with the flu today y'all. Make sure to double up on your vitamin C and wash your hands often. Moun10Bike, this is especially true for you. I'd hate to heat that the littlest cacher was sick. Ok, typing this has exhausted me. Back to sleep..... Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
Now I am really glad I didn't go with you folks yesterday. Getting over this cold is bad enough without the flu to go along with it. Take care Kealia. Hope it doesn't last long. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
Yuck, I hope that you get to feeling better, Kealia. I seem to be fine today - just have the sniffles that I had yesterday. FYI, I have updated my Squak Mountain map to reflect the real-world differences we encountered on the trails yesterday. Quote Link to comment
+hydnsek
Wow, what a fun day that was - thanks, y'all! That series was at the top of my list, and I'm glad I had such a great group to do it with. Can't wait to hike with y'all again - and Chester! Can he be our mascot? Hey MTB - see how fast that coin of yours got snapped up from the Native Plants cache? LittleBlue and I was so good to resist temptation. I'm sorry to hear Kealia got the flu - that was sudden! You seemed just fine yesterday afternoon. My only complaint is my muscles...and I have a nice massage scheduled for tomorrow. Ahhhhh. Glad we can log the locationless cache. In cruising the pages looking for it, I learned about a few others that I can probably log w/o too much trouble. Cool. hydnsek Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
Hey guys. No firms plans yet but things are shaping up for another trip up sometime in the next two weeks (possibly). I'll know more next week but wanted to give a heads up on another get together. More to come soon. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
Yay! Where are we hiking this time? Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
The new caches on the other side of Squak? Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
You know me - I'm game for anything. I do have an urge to get the project APE cache and I've heard wonderful things about Jeremey's tunnel cache (name escapes me). don't know the right time of year for those, though...... Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
The cache at the west end of the tunnel is Iron Horse. It is about half a mile from Tunnel of Light. Both can be reached via the tunnel that opens in May. They are also available via the Annette Lake trail. Right now that trail does require some hiking in the snow although not as much as in other years. I would suggest holding off on those until after the tunnel opens. It is awesome to hike through the tunnel. Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
Or, to continue our 'move' east, there are a number of caches on Tigar Mtn. The Hikes Hat Trick trio and others. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
Tiger Mountain would be good. Yesterday during our hike on Squak, we also talked about doing GeoRoo's caches up off of Highway 2. Most are drive-to caches, but they are in scenic locations that would give a good sample of some of our mountain scenery. Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
That's right - I forgot about Tiger Mtn. That would complete the Hat Trick of the Snoq. Alps if I'm not mistaken. Raining today and not many caches to go after that won't get me really muddy so I think I'm confined indoors today. At least there's a fun Event Cache tonight. Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
Speaking of Stevens Pass, I have Iton Goat Trail on my To Do list. That one probably should wait until warmer weather though. Quote Link to comment
nolenator
Glad you all had fun! Glad to hear the original log is still at Tie Mill...lot of you know that 's my first ever cache and I plan on visiting it for my three year anniversary. I left something up that direction for you EGH! Peace, Nolenator Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
And I will gladly pass on that new one. Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
I haven't done any on Tiger and would be happy there, but I think I'm leaning towards doing GeoRoo's caches. There are quite a few up there and in a very pretty area. It would be a change of scenery from what we did before! Quote Link to comment
+Pepper
Having done several of GeoRoo's caches I can say they are Top Notch! Pepper Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
I left something up that direction for you EGH! Peace, Nolenator Too funny......our group talked about doing that very thing when we hiked by this last month! Quote Link to comment

+Allanon
Bump. What ever became of this return trip? Was it a secret/sneak in-and-out trip? I was kind of hoping for the GeoRoo series myself... edit:...@(#$& spelling... Edited March 15, 2005 by Allanon Quote Link to comment

+Kealia
Per my conversation with them today it looks like I'm coming up next week! Possibly Mon/Tues (Monday meetings, Tuesday caching). More to come in the next 48hrs as I confirm days but that's the preliminary report. Quote Link to comment
+WeightMan
Dang. I will be gone all week. Oh well, maybe next time. Quote Link to comment
+Kealia
So anybody around and free next Tuesday/Wed for a morning hike? No solid plans yet but its looking like Tues/Wed/Thurs. Quote Link to comment
+LittleBlue
I will *try*, but husband gets a bit annoyed when I have to ask him to take the girls in to school and cover for me after 4 yr old gets out of preschool. He's hitting a milestone at work and that makes things hairy... I want to do it, tho! Quote Link to comment
+evergreenhiker!
I"m working fulltime these days so nope. Quote Link to comment
