MarcusArelius
I am not sure why the first thread was closed so I may be treading on thin ground. But... Good news! It appears that I won the bid on lot 7439 for the 15 pallets of 50 caliber ammo cans. Depending on how many of the 403 cans are useable (with lids) my cost, and yours, should be around $1.50 per can. Email me if you want some and/or want to help pick them up at Fort Lewis. Quote Link to comment
+planetrobert
If I lived near by I would buy a bunch... dang Congrats BTW that is a lot of caches. Quote Link to comment
+LthrWrk
congrats.. I will close the yahoogroup. geocachecans.. rather than trying to coordinate it. edited for spelling Edited December 22, 2004 by LthrWrk Quote Link to comment

+GeoRoo
I'd like 25. Did anyone bid on the 30 cal cans? Guess I should go find the other thread and check out the bidding. I thought it closed tomorrow? I have a hatchback, and can put on my roof pod, so should be able to carry at least 100 cans if anyone wants some NE of Seattle. Quote Link to comment
+Og's outfit
I've offered the use of a full-sized truck. I'd be glad to drop of some at a centralized spot for people who want cheap cans. I live in Enumclaw so maybe somewhere in Puyallup? Southhill mall? Let me know Quote Link to comment
+runhills
As I indicated by email, I would like 10 to 20 depending on how many others want. Any chance we can put logbooks in them before they are distributed for easy finds by those (myself) that offer to help transport them? Quote Link to comment
+GeoRoo
Hey that sounds like a good idea. We could have a cache event at the pick-up site and log all 403 cans!.......I'm close to 500 finds, wow that would get me close to 1,000.....Then I could find them all over again when they get placed.......Sounds like a plan. Quote Link to comment
+Square Bear
As in the email we will also take 20 more or less depending on the demand. Let me know when the drive down to get them is. Quote Link to comment
+JavaDuck
I would be interested in some as well. I could do between 5 and 10. Just depends where pick up would be etc. I'm in Federal way. So when are you picking them up, hoping next week? Going out of state for the X-mas weekend. Quote Link to comment
+evergreenhiker!
I'll go for ten boxes. An email has been sent to MA. Quote Link to comment

MarcusArelius
I will get confirmation of the bid acceptance tommorrow and will see when the pickup times are. So far I've heard from about 20 people that want about half the load. I also have to contact LthrWrk to get his list and yahoo group data. Thanks for everyone offering to help haul! I figure I will ask one or two people to come with me to the fort. Then as we drive back up I-5 we could meet folks along the way at strategic exits to drop off batches. How's that sound? Now everyone is going to sign a pledge to only use these for quality caches. Right? Quote Link to comment

EGH, you better get more than 10. 10 is hardly worth the effort. Now 25 is more like it and 50 would be even better..... Quote Link to comment
nolenator
At that price I will take a dozen. Even if I loose a few, I could place one downtown. Peace, Nolenator Quote Link to comment

MarcusArelius
I got the confimation today and the bill. The pickup opprotunities are 12/27/04-1/7/05 07:30-14:30, excluding weekends and holidays. I probably try for Monday morning on the 27th. The total was $551.07 $463 to the military, $46.30 to the web site, and $41.77 to the state If all 403 are there, and usable, my per can cost is $1.37 I'm still going to charge $1.50 per can to absorb any unusable cans and pay for gas. It's not just because I don't want to make change... really! Quote Link to comment
+slinger91
I would still like 10 cans. Will there be a caching event for picking them up? (And an extra can to the cacher with the best time shotgunning a beer! )Or some other place? Quote Link to comment
+Square Bear
MarcusArelius Are you going to be at the Holiday party event, if you are could pick them up and pay you then. DuncanClan, if you don't make it could pick up yours also. Quote Link to comment
MarcusArelius
I can''t make the party since I have to be somewhere else at 7PM. However, maybe I could show up there just before it starts to distribute cans. Say 5-6PM? Quote Link to comment

MarcusArelius
Now I am sold out. I will be dropping off some cans for LandRover11 at the Federal way reststop northbound (by the scales) today about 10:00AM on the way back from picking them up. If any other south enders want to get their's early you can stop by. However the time is a guestimate. I'm going to call LR when I leave the fort. Quote Link to comment
