Geocaching In Russia In Photos

I was pleased to read that people are interested. Our community has created many great caches but all of their descriptions are in Russian, and there are just few common caches with .com website.

In any case, thank you for your kind words about photos. There are some more from geocaching.ru that I collected few weeks ago from photo albums of all Russian caches. The comments are in pure Russian but URLs are still clickable

Plutic,

Please do tell what kind of cameras you are using in Russia. Does Russia have their own brands like we (the USA) have Kodak? Do you import all your cameras?

Hi there, all the cameras are the same - Canon, Olympus, Nickon - the markets for these are international:) We used to have good film cameras, but I do not think we have digital models.

Regards,

Ivan

Here are some from Missouri, USA.

They are loaded on geocaching.com, so they were resized and not as good as the originals:

Also, please indicate here the photos that you liked the most. We are voting for the photos on the geocaching.ru site and it should be fun to know the opinions of others. Thanks!

I really liked the old stone bridge one and the one with the rainbow above the dirt road. The two puppies is an amazingly sharp photo, very cool. Great pics on that site, thanks for sharing them!

I know many russian cachers, who use digital cameras. Exactly, most of cachers, who I know, use digital cameras. Only one use digital SLR, and other take his shots with automatically digital cameras ("цифромылницами").

WOW! There are obviously many talented photopraphers in your Geocaching community in Russia!

If I had to vote for my favourite it would be:

My first 35mm SLR was a Zenit E. I was 16 when I bought it and learned many good lessons while using it. Very good camera to start with... It didn't have a light meter so it forced me to learn the basics and build from the ground up.

Nice photos, thank you.

In fact, geocaching.ru is not a professional photo community, so I doubt that the samples at .ru site may be compared with those beautiful works you find at photo.ru or any other website of this kind. In fact, it is only the first attempt to emphasize photography as "geocaching style".

P.S. davwil, I also started with Zenit E

Absolutely stunning photos! Blast you, plutnik, now I have to schedule a geocaching trip to Russia. From the photos, I think such a trip would be very rewarding.

Ah, well, with all the controversy here in Texas, perhaps it is better to step out of the republic for a couple of weeks and geocache somewhere else... :o

I agree with everyone else - those are amazingly beautiful pictures! You have some gorgeous scenery in your country. I really like dogs, so the photo of the 2 puppies is probably my favorite. I can't imagine how the photographer got 2 young puppies to sit still that long! :o I also like the one of the 2 cachers in what looks like a cave - the smiles on their faces remind me how much all of us are alike in our enjoyment of geocaching.
