Team Of Wheat
Hi guys, I found the Garmin 60 series automotive kit at Etronics.com for $140 but they do not say what version of City Select comes with it. I've tried calling them, but their customer service folks don't have a clue. The part number displayed on the product page is 010-10458-00. Does anyone know if this part number includes version 5 or 6? I can't find anything on Garmin's site referring to the auto kit. Here is a link to the Etronics web page: LINK Anyone have any ideas on this? It seems like a good price for the auto kit. Thanks! BradW0807 Quote Link to comment
peter
Even if it were version 5, Garmin will send you a free upgrade CD with the latest version. As long as the software hasn't been unlocked prior to the announcement of the new version there isn't any charge for upgrading. Quote Link to comment

I've heard that 6 is being provided by the vendors now. (as reported by a cacher here in the forums) Whatever you get, check it against the Garmin site and if necessary, call Garmin (not email) for the upgrade. Also, you might want to consider getting an ext. antenna when/if you place your order for the kit. Edited December 13, 2004 by BlueDeuce Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
the part number you gave is for the auto nav kit and is not version-specific. As noted, though, Garmin's upgrade policy is pretty friendly. Quote Link to comment

+bird_and_bear
I recently purchased the 60CS automotive kit and received City Select 6.01 with the kit. I've had great success without an external antenna in both my Toyota Tacoma and my Roadktrek RV; often get 8-10 ft accuracy in both vehicles.
