There are pages on how to place a cache, how to find a cache and you can search for caches in your area by zip code. Please let us know if you have other questions.

Greetings! I too, am new to this game/sport, since this morning. I have two obstacles to getting started:

1) no GPS unit, but this is no problem, should have one soon.

2) don't know anyone else doing it! I moved to the Bay Area (Peninsula) not too long ago and haven't met too many people outside of work. Let alone into geocaching!

Are there any existing methods of getting into a group (not a competitive situation) in my area? Should I post this in the forum for the California region?

(Anybody want a newbie single gal tagging along? icon_biggrin.gif )

I would suggest just going to the geocaching homepage, typing in your zip code and seeing how many others have created cache's. Maybe find a friend or co-worker that might be intrested and see if they want to go.

I took my roomate on our first one on Sunday, after finding the link on USATODAY's website. We had a lot of fun (I was sweating buckets!)

I know we've already planned our own cache and will be looking to get it setup sometime this week.

And that, of course, would be a terrible thing...tsk tsk tsk
