+ValleyRat & TillyMouse
We carry a box of trash bags when we are out geocaching. Pick up trash, but we never even bother to mention it in the log. In Texas it's part of life! Pick it up! Dump it! Don't brag about it. Am I wrong? +Pork King
No, you're not wrong, but if you mention that you CITO'ed in an area that has alot of trash, others might be more willing to. If I see a log where everyone CITO'ed a bit, I'd feel more inclined to. 'Course, I'm not from TX! Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
You are not wrong. However if you are having trouble with local parks, then that is a good time to make a big deal about it. Visible positive benifits of geocaching can go a long way towards making geocaching acceptable where a park is thinking of making an issue of it. Quote Link to comment
Swordmaster7022
Geocaching is a sport that relies on nature. It is every cachers responsibility to CITO. If they talk about it in the log book who cares? If talking about it in the logbook makes them more inclined to pick it up more power to them. Thats the way its done in Wisconsin. +mortaine
I like to mention when an area needs some CITO care. I remember the "Don't Mess with Texas" ad campaign-- perhaps reminding your fellow Texan geocachers of that message would be helpful.... Quote Link to comment
+everythingspersonal
I started mentioning CITO in my logs because I'm proud of the fact that I took the time to clean up the area around a cache. I'm not bragging but hopefully I will inspire some other people to get out and clean up their areas as well. I can't stand finding a cache that 20 other people have previously found and there is trash all over the area. If we all do our part, we will all benefit from it. I don't mess with Texas, do you? ;-) Quote Link to comment

Incidentally, I think Texas is the state that started the Adopt A Highway program. Quote Link to comment
