Bill93 Posted November 25, 2004 Share Posted November 25, 2004 It is very common to find benchmarks set by various agencies that are not in the NGS data base because they were not measured and calculated in a manner compatible with the geodetic model, even if they were useful for another purpose. DaveD Posted November 29, 2004 Share Posted November 29, 2004 fkrol - The mark you found is station AMD 2 established by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1942. the data for this mark has never been submitted to NGS for inclusion in the National Spatial Reference System. The published USGS data indicates that this mark is stricktly a bench mark (elevation only) with a published value of 1886.060 ft (NGVD 29), the elevation of 574.9 you noted from the topo map is the metric value. BTW, AMD are the initials of the USGS field chief of party A. M Davies. Quote Link to comment
