+95_Camaro_Couple Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Hi Everyone! We're going to be moving soon, and the trip home will take us along I-10 from El Paso, TX, down into Central Florida. So, I was hoping to hit some caches along the way, close to the interstate. I'm looking for caches through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. Do you have any caches to recommend that are easy to access and won't add hours to our already-long trip? Or, do you know of an easy way to search for those caches? Any and all help will be appreciated! Paula Quote
+ZackJones Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 If you download a bunch of PQ's you could filter them along the route using the program GSAK (Geocache Swiss Army Knife) Zack Quote
+Griff-N-Go Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 If you are a premium member, use the mapping feature. What I do on trips is find a cache along the route I am taking and then just keep moving the map along the route, noting the caches. I then go back and pull up the caches and see what looks interesting. Little bit of manual work, but insures that the cache is not too far off the highway. Quote
+95_Camaro_Couple Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Thanks for the suggestions guys! We haven't become premium members yet because, frankly, there is only one members-only cache in our area. I know there are other benefits, so maybe it's time to rethink our decision. Thanks again! +drat19 Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Here's a selection of relatively-quick, I-10-eastbound-friendly caches to hit during the Mississippi portion of your journey: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...67-2251cc3099dd http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...a5-1d9bfe4e59ff http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...47-24a700c03a37 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...49-04b6507ce8ca http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...70-990e17454c5a http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b0-de5f87ab0556 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6b-d9f61df3e0f0 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c7-2fea334a2017 Let me know if I can be of any further assistance to help you prepare for your journey. -Dave R. in Biloxi Quote
Kirbert Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I'm relatively new to this game myself, but I happen to live just a few clicks N of I-10 near Tallahassee, FL. I can tell you about a few caches in the area: Budd's Favorite Spot (mine!) would NOT be quick. A Bear of a Crossing (mine!) would NOT be quick. ALWAYS QNCY (mine!) would be very quick, only a half mile or so from an I-10 interchange. It's lame, though, hardly worth the bother. ALWAYS TLH-W (mine!) is likewise lame, a bit farther off I-10. If you find ALWAYS QNCY first, this one would be really quick. On a Wing and a Prayer, Lost in Waverly, and Pile O' Stuff are all nice finds and near I-10, but unfortunately not near an interchange. With some local map work, you could get off at the US 27 N interchange, go pick up these three (and a few others) and get back on at the US 319 interchange without having blown too much time or distance. +LSUFan Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 The Louisiana geocaching club, LAGeocaching.org , has a download available that they keep up to date with all caches near all the main interstates and highways in LA, including I-10. Here is a link to it. Hope it helps http://www.lageocaching.org/index.php?name...ddetails&lid=20 LSUFan Quote
+Ocean Archer Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 Wellll .... I really don't see much of a problem with this request, since the State of Mississippi is only 86 miles wide where I-10 crosses, so here goes: Oh, by the way, this listing goes from east to west across the state Pascagoula and Moss Point -- 39568 VanCleave and Ocean Springs -- 39564 Biloxi and D'Iberville -- 39530 Gulfport and Orange Grove -- 39501 Long Beach and Jones Mill -- 39560 Pass Christian and DeLisle -- 39571 Waveland and Bay St Louis -- 39520 Hope you enjoy your trip, and Happy New Year Ocean Archer Quote
