afant127
I'm fairly knew to the whole GPS concept. I got a etrex Venture this past winter and I still don't have any mapping software for it. What do you think I should do? Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Mapsource Topo is what I'd go with. In my GPS V I've got Cityselect (Metroguide is similar and what you would use) and Topo and it's Topo that I use the most. The reason is simple City roads all connect i can find a way around. But off-road caches and the convoluted trails can be more of a challenge. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Depends on what your primary use is. If you live in an urban area, or travel a lot, go with Metroguide. If you're an outdoorsperson, go with the Topo. "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day" - Dave Barry Quote Link to comment
+Team Shibby
Being the former owner of the eTrex Venture I feel I should let you know that you cannot upload maps to the Venture. The only uploads, aside from waypoints, is Garmins 'Points Of Interest' CD. It will give you POI's for things such as Shopping, Food & Drink, Campgrounds and things like that. The Venture comes preloaded with a city database that shows medium to large cities in North America, but thats about it. Kar Quote Link to comment
