Travel Bug Etiquette?

Scouting for Cache

Recommended Posts

We are new to geocaching and have really enjoyed finding our first cache and a couple of benchmarks. My question is this......we are preparing to go out of state to visit family and geocache in a couple of weeks. A travel bug just showed up (according to the cache website) in the cache close to our home. This is the same cache that we just visited last week. Should we retrieve the travel bug and take it with us, or it is in "poor form" to visit the same cache so soon?

Thanks for your help!

If you can help the TB to achieve it's goals, hell, the little fella depends on you! If not leave him for someone else.

If he's just travelling without any goals, knock yourself out, go get him and move him to wherever you can.

Having said that, the bug owner will appreciate any movement. Let's face it, you could move the bug thirty miles in the wrong direction, right into the hands of someone who is in a position to take the bug oversees, or anywhere.

The travel bug is meant to travel. If you can help it do that, go for it!

It is perfectly fine to revisit a cache to pick up, or drop off a travel bug. It's also fine to revisit a cache for any reason. To fix it up, add more trade items, visit with new geocachers, check on it, whatever...

Just make sure you log a note and not another "I Found It". Mutiple finds on the same cache are generally considered to be in poor taste.
