Anonymous' Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Edit: Found an older oneThe Coast to Coast Log book That bug is still around, but it isn't traveling. It is in the hands of its owner and it has been for a few months. Quote
Anonymous' Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Here's one I found that is older and still traveling, it probably isn't the oldest though. One of Jeremy's Quote
sorchah Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Wally Warhead has been going for a LONG time. Quote
welch Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 How about Markwell's Geoffrey? launch 10-9-01 http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=232 Its been sitting in a cache in Japan for the last month, but has overcome bigger problems . Quote
Damenace Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 I do believe that Backpack Bear from Vermont just may be the oldest TB still traveling with a release date of September 28th, 2001. Damenace Quote
The Leprechauns Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 (edited) Recently I had the pleasure of moving Star Wars Destroyer, TB162, from Nebraska to Pennsylvania. It's the 354th bug issued and was started off on its travels in December 2001 by well-known California geocacher, Putt. Certainly not the earliest date, but a very low number and the oldest I've personally handled. What makes this story cool is that the bug got lost in central Nebraska for 2.5 years and then mysteriously reappeared in a cache in the same area. I love it when bugs come back from the dead! Though I thought that Caption Spock was from Star Trek... Quote
fly46 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Wally Warhead has been going for a LONG time. Since this is TB number 12, I checked the 11 before it... One has been held by a cacher for about a year, three were never activated, three or four were activated without ever being filled out or placed, and a couple have been hopelessly lost. I think this one wins. Quote
Perfect Tommy Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 At the risk on jinxing it, my The Entombed Incognito Computer Buddha TB has been out in the wild since September 15, 2001. I would be interested in seeing if there are any other bugs that have (continuously - no replacements) been on the geocaching circuit for a longer time. Quote
Markwell Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Yea - Geoffrey's still out there. I know he's one of the older ones, but I don't think anyone can beat ID=12 Quote
mikemtn Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 (edited) My From Jonjaben is in the running waiting for a few drop along the wayside someday. Hope we don't jinx them talking about them. Plus he's been a lot of miles and a lot of places. Disappeared a few times and it took a few emails around the world to get him going again. Edited December 5, 2004 by mikemtn Quote
Perfect Tommy Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 My The Entombed Incognito Computer Buddha travel bug passed its fifth anniversary of being in the wild last month. Although there have been some close calls, it is still the original bug I released back on September 15, 2001. I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows of another travel bug that has been in circulation longer? Quote
