markandlynn
Phew the two Palm Vx's arrived today. Got the new cachemate and now have the nearest 2650 caches loaded (7mb) (is this enough for Saturday and Sunday?). As we have two palms (£36) from ebay we can carry the entire UK database provided no one plants any more . Not sure where or how to split the country up though, maybe the kids in one half and the parents in the other Also took the time to buy Microsoft Autoroute 2002 (£12) and now import a csv file from GSAK as the pushpins to help plan the days and routes out nice cheap alternative to memory map. +MoonHerb
Sounds good. Can anyone recommend a PDA that it's possible to buy cheaply off eBay which will run the GeoCaching software and Memory Map (or something similar ??) Quote Link to comment
+Learned Gerbil
Memory Map only runs on Pocket PCs and they tend to not be as cheap as Palms. Fugawi is similar. I run Cachemate and Fugawi on a 16Mb colour screen Clie (Palm OS4.1) which will set you back about $100 on Ebay. The demands of mapping software mean the $25 Palms are not going to work for you. Avoid Zires other than the 71 and the Tungsten E as they can't talk to all but dedicated GPSrs. Quote Link to comment
