+Pinky&theBrains
Is there a easy (cheap) way of getting maps on my new sportrak? I would love to avoid purchasing the mapsend software if at all possible, I'll admit that I am new to the hobby and when I shelled out the $139 for the unit I was unaware that there would be more expenses. I there is anything I can do, please let me know> Dave Quote Link to comment
+2dest
Nothing I know of except to buy Mapsend software (topo). You can watch for it on sale - try Froogle -or keep looking on ebay. In the end you won't regret buying the software! Quote Link to comment

+phantom4099
Which sportrak do you have, I not totaly sure if you have the sportrak yellow, or the sportrak map? The yellow does not accept maps, and the sportrak map accepts 4 mb of maps from mapsend streets and destination and mapsend topo. Wyatt W. Quote Link to comment
4x4van
Actually, the ST Map has 6MB of memory, not 4. Unfortunately, with any of the brands (Magellan, Garmin, etc.), you can only upload maps from the manufacturer. Maps are a nice feature, but are not necessary. I found 50-60 caches using my old GPS315, which had only cities in the built-in map/database. The ST Map will have major highways, as well. Unfortunately, the yellow ST does not have additional mapping capabilities. Again, the additional maps are not necessary, but they are very nice, and once you use them, you'll not want to go back. I love Mapsend Topo in my ST Pro. Edited November 10, 2004 by 4x4van Quote Link to comment
+phantom4099
I use to think it was 4 mb free, but 6 mb total (that includes the 2mb basemap). But it looks like you mighty be right... Wyatt W. Quote Link to comment
