Need Mapping Gps Unit

I live in U.S. but spend a little time each year in East Sussex. I would like to get a handheld GPS, a mapping unit that has street-level mapping software available for but the U.S. and the U.K.

 

I suppose I might as well get the rest of Europe as well, but the U.K. is a must.

 

I know Magellan has MapSend Europe, but I was never very happy with the MapSend Streets or Topo offerings in the U.S.

 

I am completely unfamiliar with Garmin, Lowrance, or other brands offerings of map software.

 

Though I've owned a few Magellan and Lowrance GPSRs over the years, I don't have anything right now. I'm open to any brand name suggestions - but good quality maps for both countries are the main thing I'm after.

 

Suggestions?
