+Firth of Forth Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 I normally rely on checking the UK cache map at UK Cache Map for the green cache boxes to alert me to new caches. However. it's not showing any of the new caches that have gone live in the last week, in Scotland at any rate. Does anyone know why this is? Quote
+Boneychest & Catsuey Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 I've never seen this page before! Made me chuckle when I saw "Norfolkshire". Quote
+Alibags Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 It's showing my new caches, which went live on Sunday, but they are not coloured in green. I am not unduly worried by this. These map thingies all seem to have their individual 'personalities' don't they?! Quote
+Bill D (wwh) Posted November 4, 2004 Posted November 4, 2004 I've not looked at this much lately, as new caches seem to show up sooner on the search from 'My Cache Page' than they do on the map. But I've just taken a look at the area around me on the map, and whilst caches placed within the last seven days are showing in green, there are three that are between nine and twelve days old which are also showing in green! Evidently something is not as it should be... Quote
+Firth of Forth Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 The maps at Uk Cache mapappear to be functioning properly again - there are suddenly lots of new green boxes withing striking distance of home. Quote
+mdshamilton Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 How do you navigate to the map from the main www.geocaching.com page? Quote
+naffita Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 It's a job to find an easy way, from the main page click on 'GO' beside 'Alabama', you will then get the option at the top of that page to click on [map], next at the top right you can click on 'world' , then 'europe', then 'uk', then 'england'. Now someone will tell us the easy way, but I haven't found it. Quote
+Papakas Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 The easy way is to click on the link from this topic! Quote
JackiePenn Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I've never seen this page before! Made me chuckle when I saw "Norfolkshire". LOL They must of referenced an antique map! SOMERSETSHIRE ? wtf is SALOP ? Quote

Uk Cache Map There used to be a direct link to it from the main page when I first started caching over a year and a half ago, but this disappeared quite a while ago. Its a very useful but, for some reason, obscure link which not everyone seems to know about. Quote
+MarcB Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Hehe, I've had it for ages - very useful for a quick reference! MarcB Quote
+Fangsy Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Gotta love how when zoomed in on Wales the title at the top still says England, that and the comical mis-spellings. How to tell it is an American site yes? Quote
+Firth of Forth Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 Gotta love how when zoomed in on Wales the title at the top still says England, that and the comical mis-spellings. How to tell it is an American site yes? A few years ago I had to have some dealings with some US banks. Unfortunately I gave my address as being in Edinburgh, Scotland, and left out the UK bit. None of the letters from them got to me, as they all did a grand tour of the US seeking some place in the US called Scotland. Nothing important exists outside America; doesn't everyone know that??!!
