+Two Retirees Caching In
What's the best size for a photo when posting it on Geocaching.com? We use a 5 Megapixel camera. We can cut them down to 620 x 480, but that's too small, and a lot of detail is lost, but 2048 x 1536 is way too big. What's the happy medium? Quote Link to comment
Jeremy
Images are always resized to 600 pixels wide on the largest width, unless you keep the actual byte size of the image below 125k. Since we have 700,000 images now we try to keep the file size down for bandwidth and disk storage reasons. Quote Link to comment
+Gonzo-YT
Consider cropping your photos before you resize them... You'll get better results. It's pretty hard to get that whole sweeping mountain view in a small picture, so better just to crop it down to the best part of it. Regards, Anthony Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
I usually resize mine to be 800 pixels high or 800 wide with somewhere around 70% compression. Usually I end up with an file less than 125k, so GC.com doesn't mess with it, yet it's big enough and detailed enough to see. Jamie Quote Link to comment
