+geocamper
Is there a way to transfer the waypoints I download from the internet straight into my mapsource program instead of having to put them in my gps and then back to mapsource, I used easygps to get them to the gps unit. Thanks, Larry Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
You don't say what format your waypoints are in but GPSBabel will convert many formats into Mapsource files. Quote Link to comment

+New England n00b
The format should be WGS84... it refers to the way the location is described. A .LOC is a file that contains that waypoint... Anyway, if its a .LOC from geocaching.com then it is in WGS84 format. I haven't used GPSBabel mysefl but from what I understand of it, it's your best bet. I still use the easygps-GPSr-Mapsource method myself... Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
GPSBabel will convert LOC files. You can also use GSAK which has an interface you might find easier to use (it uses GPSBabel "under the hood" for conversions). GPSBabel is a command line utility. Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
...straight into my mapsource program... No, not that I'm aware of. You can use other programs to interface with both your GPS and Mapsource. GSAK is the best. What GPS do you have? Do you use mapping software like City Select? Quote Link to comment
+Thot
GPSBabel is a command line utility. I don't think so. The version I use is a Windoze graphical form. Or, did you mean you can use command line arguments, but you don't have to? Edited October 30, 2004 by Thot Quote Link to comment

Or, did you mean you can use command line arguments, but you don't have to? From the GPSBabel website... A graphical front end to GPSBabel for Windows 98, 2000, and XP is included as gpsbabelfront.exe. It provides a simple point and click interface to GPSBabel for converting a single file of waypoints to a single file of another type. Advanced features like conversion of tracks and routes or filtering or merging are not available to the GUI version and must be accessed via the command line. Quote Link to comment

+j9cache & Mike(j9+M)
After trying for over a month to get things working, my husband today got my MapSource to recognize my GPSr, and I merely copied and pasted the coordinates to the Mapsource and downloaded from there. The EasyGPS would not work for me. Now I don't know if there are other advantages to downloading the other way as I've never experienced them... Quote Link to comment
