Cache'n Not Wish'n
We want to used some Air Force Enlisted aircrew member wings as a hitchhiker on a TB. The goal would be to have the wings fly on as many airplanes, especially military aircraft and in as many states/countries as possible. Any military aircrew members out there that can tell me if this goal would work? thanks! Cache'n Not Wish'n Quote Link to comment
LordSaw
I don't know how many cachers are aircrew or know aircrew well enough to ask for help on this, but I imagine any that found it would attempt to assit it in it's goal. I do have one question though, as an ex Naval avaition crewmember. Are these you wings or some you found/purchased. I know that if I had managed to get all the quals signed off and won my wings, they would not be placed in a situation where they could get lost. I spent over three years trying, but operational needs always came before getting the last sign-off and nobody would process a waiver. I never got my wings. Cache Well. Quote Link to comment
Cache'n Not Wish'n
No, these are not our wings we wore while we were flying on active duty. I purchased this set from the BX web site. The wings we wore are in our retirement showdow boxes. Cache'n Not Wish'n Quote Link to comment
LordSaw
I was hoping so. Cache Well Quote Link to comment
Cache'n Not Wish'n
Yeah, we worked hard for those wings! Quote Link to comment
LordSaw
Yeah, I know about that. I had a total of about 3000 hrs as primary operator in two different positions on two versions of Patrol AC, way back when. Decommissioned one squadron and transitioned both position and aircraft after a year and a half, so had to start all over. As I said before Operational needs superceed qualification. Cache Wel But this is going OT so I'll drop it now. Edited October 19, 2004 by LordSaw Quote Link to comment
Dad! Over Here
I was thinking of starting my own cache with a travel bug and making it an aviation theme. I was looking around to see if anyone else had that idea and found your posting. I wish you well. My goal is to be a bit different. I would like my travel bug to fly on any aircraft (commercial, general aviation, experimental, military, you get the idea) and log the aircraft and the origin and termination of the flight. We'll see how it goes. Good luck with yours. Quote Link to comment
Criminal
See this post. My Traveling Mac TB has come up missing, damnit. I couldn't help your TB goal because I retired in March 03. I was a C-141B Flight Engineer with 5600+ hours. Quote Link to comment
Square Bear
Being a Naval Aircrewman (Flight Engineer 8000 hrs) I could help it if I ever ran across it. There are several of my fellow Aircrewman that do Geocache, but it would be Crap shoot for one of us to run across it. Edited November 8, 2004 by Ray&Rose Quote Link to comment
fly46
Perhaps your bug would be luckier with a general aviation goal as opposed to military aviation. The military cachers I know are much too busy with things other than travel bugs. Quote Link to comment
DuncanClan
I am also a Naval Aircrewman (Flight Engineer), and still on active duty...for 18 more MONTHS. I would, of course, be happy to take a set of your wings flying with me. I tend to agree though, it would be pretty challenging to get them from one aircrewman to another. DC Quote Link to comment
Cache'n Not Wish'n
Thanks for the replys. I am including in the TB's goal to fly on all types of aircraft. BTW, I retired from the AF in 1993, C-141 FE. Cashe'n Not Wish'n Quote Link to comment
planemaker
I love the idea. If they make it my way I will take them for a flight. Cheers! Paul Captain, Canadian Air Force Reserve Quote Link to comment
