Well, the first one we got had already been opened, was missing the wrist strap and gave us the message "There are currently no maps on this unit, initiating map upload"...then it just froze...couldn't turn it off or anything.

 

The second one, during initilization froze up. It may have been because it was software revision 1.01....

 

Called tech support who advised I take that one back to Academy as well.

 

So we went off again, this time, we took our batteries...it was the LAST one they had and I took it outside and initialized it right there. This one works well and has the most recent software on it.

 

If it had given me any trouble, I would simply have gone to the Meridian Gold.

 

I'm thinking we may end up getting a second one before long. I see this becoming a necessity. LOL
