After three returns, we finally got a WORKING MAP330 from Magellan.

 

We will start tomorrow. I have 3 waypoints entered and we're all set!

No boat here...so it may be a bit before we get to any of the hydros...Unless we borrow my dad's boat. We may take him along on an expidition.

Seldon, You can really go out and find the cache

in the bayou, what fun. What sort of trouble were you having with the 330.

Well, the first one we got had already been opened, was missing the wrist strap and gave us the message "There are currently no maps on this unit, initiating map upload"...then it just froze...couldn't turn it off or anything.

 

The second one, during initilization froze up. It may have been because it was software revision 1.01....

 

Called tech support who advised I take that one back to Academy as well.

 

So we went off again, this time, we took our batteries...it was the LAST one they had and I took it outside and initialized it right there. This one works well and has the most recent software on it.

 

If it had given me any trouble, I would simply have gone to the Meridian Gold.

 

I'm thinking we may end up getting a second one before long. I see this becoming a necessity. LOL
