+coast2coast2coast
Hi there I was out caching and had to project a way point Soooo I marked my location and went to menu and went to the "project waypoint" page... I put sayyyy 100°mag in the bearing slot and press enter... the digits changed to 119° mag which is odd because my Mag dev here is 19° I checked the settings and it is set to Mag. Any Ideas? +coast2coast2coast
I live on the west coast and Our Mag Dev is 19. So there is a big difference bettween a Mag heading and a True heading... Most of the multi caches around here that send you on a bearing and distance use Magnetic Tom Quote Link to comment

Mine does the same thing so I did a little experimenting and found that the end result is still correct and the resulting waypoint is where the cache hider intended. For some reason Garmin is changing the display of the users "magnetic" input to the equivalent in "true" degrees making it a bit confusing especially when you are working with magnetic instructions. On a side note I also discovered that Mapsource on my PC is using a magnetic declination of 10 and my GPSR uses 11 (actual is somewhere inbetween). I have enough problems finding caches without Garmin making it even harder. Cheers, Olar Quote Link to comment
