+lakedawgs
The 76C series has 115MB of memory and the 60C, roughly half that. I am upgrading from an eTrex yellow to a 60CS or 76CS. Besides the looks and handling of the 2 units, the only real difference is the memory. Is that correct? From what I am reading they seem to be the same inside, please clarify if this is incorrect. How much mapping can I put into the 60CS compared to the 76CS, I have no idea how big the mapping files are. We mostly hike and cache, but do car travel a bit. thanks, Matt Anderson Team Lakawgs Quote Link to comment

+cachemob
You are correct that the two units have the same OS as it were. For cacheing purposes the 60 series are easier to hold and view. The car issue clouds this some. Very roughly New England is 50 megs in land based maps. I cache with the 76CS it works great! Quote Link to comment
+W7WT
They are both great units. I bought the 76C because I had the 76S and liked the feel and also easy to wedge with a piece of non skid pad between the dash and the windshield. The 76C also has the batteries parallel to the ground when holding and they seem to hold the batteries better than the 60 series. I have all of Washington, most of Oregon, southern half of BC and AB, and top half of Idaho CS maps on the 76C. Some people prefer the smaller size 60 series. Go to a store and hold both of them. Good luck, Dick, W7WT Quote Link to comment

To give you a visual idea of the difference in memory, look at the pink-shaded areas to see how much of City Select version 5 will fit into the two units. The 60 is on top and the 76 is on the bottom. Quote Link to comment
