+vree
OMG, drat! Those DNFs had me rolling! I am a believer of logging DNFs. I have had a few different reactions to DNFs from a couple different cache owners: On one multicache, the owner saw that a couple DNFs showed up (I had gone with another geocaching team) and he went out to check on it. He was kind enough to check on it right away, post a note and email both of us. The problem ended up being that he writes his 4s (does that need an apostrophe? ) with a closed top and we mistook the 4 in the coordinates from one stage for a 9. When he emailed us to check the coordinates that we had, he immediately recognized the problem. He has since added that info to the hint and the next finder after us said that that info had been helpful. On another multicache, I can barely get a response from the owner. The cache hasn't been found since May 15. My DNF makes four DNFs in a row. I had taken the same geocaching friend with me as it was relatively late in the day and this park is in a kind of sketchy neighborhood (geocaching alone in the dark = bad!). After much looking on my own, she tried helping me and we were unable to find the first stage. She showed me where the final stage was supposed to be (we decided to check since there had been 3 DNFs) and it was gone also. I emailed the cache owner and sent pics of the location without the cache at least 4 days ago and still no response, no note. I even saved him the trip out to check on the cache by sending the pics. I have really enjoyed reading some of the thoughts on this thread. I plan on continuing to log my DNFs on the caches on which I am able to make serious attempts. I've also learned not to post the half-hearted attempts as DNFs. I'm still learning the etiquette. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
After reading this thread, and looking at the cache page logs, I don't see where those DNFs are all that long. Maybe compared to TNLNSL they could be called long, but they're only a sentence or two longer than most of the logs on that cache. Keep up the good work. Quote Link to comment

Also, the OP is not the only poster of DNFs. There are tons of them for this cache as well as maintenance issues. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Once thing is for sure, it's not easy to DNF this thread. It's still here and growing. Quote Link to comment

+dafunk22
Yup, log each and every DNF that you have. But please call them "DNFs" instead of "DNF's" because they're not possessive. OK, I know that was picky. It was simply meant as a friendly observation from a word guy. OnT - I log all my dnf's and appreciate when others log theirs also - OfT - hmmm.... why not DNF's - it is a contraction of finishes? (another word guy) OK, I'm a former English major. I checked my MLA. Apostrophes are used to form the plurals of a single letter (A's) not abbreviations (DNFs). For those of your with the sacred book, it used to be 2.2.2. I feel better. +Barnacle Bear
My DNFs tell me what I missed and offer the opportunity to go back and find it. I found a former DNF this morning. Very satisfying. Plus I've had fun on every DNF. Why shouldn't I record that, too? It's my record. Edited for the word guys. Edited October 8, 2004 by Barnacle Bear Quote Link to comment
