J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Does anyone happen to know which cache out there has been visited the most? I'm also curious to know which travel bug has logged the most miles. Thanks! J-Man Quote
geojeeper74 Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 I believe this one http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=48 is the oldest currently active cache. Dont know if it is the most logged but it must be close. Quote
briansnat Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 (edited) The Lighthouse Cache in Presque Island SP in PA has 215 logs which is up there, but not the most I'm sure. There is another, older one nearby, the Presque Isle Beach Cache which has 202 logs, but it still has the original logbook. It was placed in Sept of 2001 and I wonder if any cache that old still has the original logbook. The owner must have had an inkling that it would get a lot of logs because the logbook is a very thick one and still isn't full after all those logs. Edited September 15, 2004 by briansnat Quote
J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 I've got a cache that gets huge amounts of visitors that has 431 logs so far, and a few more every week. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...83-2cd222319bd3 I gotta think it's one of the most visited out there, but I'm curious to see what other types of caches get a lot of visitors so I know what people like. +Huntnlady Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Wow, J-man. For someone who joined in 01, you are a man of few words, or few posts. Yellow Jeep Fever had so many posts it was forcibly archived. It still gets logged today, but it is a locationless. Quote
J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Yeah, I was out of it for a while. Got caught up with the unimportant stuff. Y'know, like work. It's just the wrong type of distraction! I'll have to check that cache out. Thanks! I want to hide another cache, and I want it to be one that people are enthusiastic about and are inclined to visit. I've placed 8 caches, and am proud of each one, as I think they are all (but one) great places to hike and well worth going to. The one that isn't all that great a location is the one that everyone goes to. The others have about 15-45 logs, but Grand Central Station just gets stampeded. Wouldn't you know that because of that, it's the one I'm most proud of. Quote
J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 I can't find Yellow Jeep Fever because it's been archived. Help, anyone? Quote
Subterranean Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Yellow Jeep Fever You may know this already, but notes that are posted to a cache page are counted in the total number of logs... the total is not only "found it" logs. Still, that's an impressive amount of logs for your cache! It would be interesting to know how many have found it. Quote
J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Yeah, I was careful not to say the most found...! I'll have to check in on that someday, see how many different cashers actually found it. Thanks so much for finding me Yellow Jeep Fever. I've never seen a virtual cache. Don't think they had these when I took a break 2 years ago... Quote

Don't think they had these when I took a break 2 years ago... YJF isn't a virtual. Its a "reverse" or "locationless" cache. There are a lot of these and because they can be logged by anyone, anywhere, most have hundreds of logs. Because there is no "cache" I don't think I'd count them when looking for the cache with the most logs. They were around when I started 3 years ago. Quote
Ambrosia Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Wow! These caches sure have a lot of logs. Mine doesn't even touch them. My Birthday Suit Quote
J-Man Posted September 15, 2004 Author Posted September 15, 2004 Hey, 145 logs is fantastic! I think the only reason mine has over 400 is because it's one people revisit to drop off travel bugs. I still want to know which non-locationless cache has the most logged visits. Is there a way to look this up on the site? Quote
WaldenRun Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Hey, 145 logs is fantastic! I think the only reason mine has over 400 is because it's one people revisit to drop off travel bugs. My bug hotel is up to 626 logged visits. It has had 553 bugs pass through it. -WR Quote
J-Man Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 Nice!!! I love to hear about other travel bug caches!!! Good to see yours has done as well (and better!) than mine! Quote
