+Squealy
When I first planted my Purple Nurple (member's only cache - for other reasons) cache I honestly didn't think there would be any problems. I placed it in a jetty, nice and tight and it didn't look like it would go anywhere. A few DNFs and my own DNF confirmed my fear: months of trading for purple items and now they're all gone. Not a big deal. I can do it again - even better, paint that ammo can purple and place it closer to the shore. OK - that one went too. Now it is a purple decon placed in a spot that will remain high and dry. Maybe just high. Groundspeak emailed me today - with their correspondence with another cacher - A contractor friend found the geocache, Purple Nurple, in Rye, NY. Not knowing what it was, he removed it from the site and brought it to us. We moved the travel bugs that had been sitting for a year to new sites and they are now active once again. I'd like to put the geocache back where it belongs, but it is a premium member site and I cannot access the coordinates. It is a jetty in Rye, NY. I'd rather leave it in an exact location than in a general 100 foot area. Can you help me? Thank you, Aileen aka Beener7 Hi Aileen Thanks for the email. I have attached a screen capture of a text-only version of that cache page. You'll find the correct coordinates in the image attached. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Nate Groundspeak - The Language of Location Hi Nate, I have some issues here. I think that this cache did some serious travel in the Long Island sound. By the description below, it sounds as if this cache was in Glen Cove, NY which is in Long Island. This was found in Rye, NY on a Jetty, but the Jetty is private property and was discovered during a clean-up. We dropped it back on the jetty where we found it, accessible only by boat or the owners of the property. The new coordinates are N40 56.645 W 073 41.070. How would you like me to handle this? Very interesting indeed! Aileen Hi Aileen Wow, it sounds like this cache has had quite a journey. By copy of this email I am notifying the cache owner of your find. The two of you can work out details of it's return. Thanks again! Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Nate Groundspeak - The Language of Location Needless to say, I was floored. This cache has been swimming across, maybe around and around the LI Sound since it was lost - it washed up and is amazingly handed over to someone else who caches. I have emailed Beener7 and am awaiting her reply. Is anyone else amazed by this or is it only me?? Thanks, Aileen, for making my day!!! -Neil Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
Thats' incredible Neil! Brings new meaning to the phrase "Traveling Cache". You should let the finder hide the thing somewhere near them and tell the story on the cache page. Quote Link to comment
+IV_Warrior
Wow, that's unbelievable. Truely cool. I agree with JMBella, unless you have strong ties to it, have the other cacher hide it somewhere near where it was found telling the story. Quote Link to comment
+BlackBuck
I'd hide it near where it washed up. Quote Link to comment

avroair
That's awesome Neil! Make it a two stage multi - first stage near you, second stage at the other cacher's place!!!! Quote Link to comment

+Team DEMP
Just more geolitter you're creating out there with your unsecured caches that never should have been placed in such an inappropriate location! Quite a story!! Quote Link to comment
