WH
I received the following email today from another GC.com user: I received a message in my email today that said it was from you through geocaching.com. It said "Hey hows it going, This is just a friendly follow up email wondering if youll have the chance to dropp off my Rock Lobster TB. Hes involved in a TB race and it would be kind of cool for him to win. If your having problems please let me know. > > Thanks alot, > > Tim" The email had a virus attached. This means you probably have the bug bear virus in your computer. Please scan your system with a good virus program. I sent the original email to another cacher whos been holding a TB of mine for a while. Could this be a sign of a possible virus on the GC servers? Link to comment
+Mopar
Sounds more like the person you sent it to has a virus. The virus used the msg and subject you sent and spoofed your "from" address (in this case, your email came from gc.com, so it spoofed that). It then sent that infected msg out to everyone in his/her address list, which probably includes other cachers. You might want to tell the person you sent that email to to check out their machine. If they don't have an up to date virus scan program (and anyone on the net who doesn't is asking for problems) they can use a free online one at http://housecall.antivirus.com/ More info about one of the many bugbear variations can be found here.
