Mission: Impossible

I have it from good information that some previous finders returned to the final for Mission Impossible to raid the contents while members of my team were just making the find. Next time you make a find, find some manners as to not ruin a perfectly great experience for others. Peace, Nolenator

Well ThirtySeven and I did stop by the cache due to the powerful lure of a Moun10Bike coin being inside. Sorry, but that is always going to happen when a Moun10Bike coin gets dropped locally. I for one did not even ntend to take it, just add it to my stats and place it back inside (I already have one). ThirtySeven and I happened to arrive independently AFTER ohjoy! and DubyaDee already had found the box, had it open and were going through the contents on the ground. Didn't realize they had just found the cache for a moment, just assumed they were trying for the coins. Anyway the cache had been "raided" of both the Moun10Bike coin and TSG coin long before any of us got there.

I dont understand how this spoiled anyone's fun. Twice during the M-I tasks I ran into other teams doing tasks ahead of me but enjoyed chatting and didnt feel disgusted or anything. I wish they had just told us to "get lost" if we were spoiling their fun. I would have left in a flash.

Next time I revisit a cache to move a TB and see other cachers there logging instead of introducing myself I guess I'll take off running.

I was not there to raid the contents. Absolutely I was there to see the Moun10bike coin, yes, I've never seen one before, but you or they ascribing any other motive is based on a presumption. If the one dropped off by the first finders had been there when I found it, sure I would have grabbed it. But, I wasn't, oh well; I thought at least I might get to see one, log it, get the code off the back, and leave it for the next person. You can believe me or not, it's up to you. If you'd like to be Alice and believe six impossible things before breakfast, then #2: I would have also moved on the first coin if I had grabbed it, but that's me.

As for my inopportune timing, well, I'm sorry. I'm not the most socially graceful person in the world, and this is the first time I've ever met someone while actually geocaching, that wasn't an event where people were expected to meet. I thought the chance meeting went well; I was very surprised by DubyaDee's log. And to concur with k7-wave, I wouldn't have stayed a moment longer if there had been anything said, "get lost" or otherwise.

I also don't understand how it spoiled things so much as to inspire anyone to not log a find out of protest. To each their own, but wasn't everything done and found, before anyone else showed? So Seth!'s mission itself was experienced as was intended, and was it not amazing? Shouldn't that be the criteria on which the find is based?

Seriously. Anybody reading this who hasn't already started on this cache, you'll have a blast; those who have, already know. And if you see me elsewhere, please, please feel free to say "get lost". Although if you add "you bearded weirdo" then I'll know you still care.

Ryan.

P.S. #3: The Face on Mars is real.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. I guess I am just a little protective of my teammates. I would be more than happy to show you my coin collection. I always have it and a couple of others with me when I cache. I just got lucky enough to grab a SG coin this weekend. Peace, Nolenator

Yeah, I should make it a habit to carry mine with me as well. I also have a lovely SG coin and thus wasn't interested in the one that was in the cache.

I have a suggestion: perhaps your entire team could arrange a time to re-find the final together. That way you could fill in any missing experiences along the way, fully enjoy the moment and all log together. I'm sorry for the bad timing yesterday.

Thanks also to Seth! for this splendid, thrilling masterpiece of a cache!

I find your message interesting Nolenator...

I know w/o a shadow of a doubt there have been others in your 'party' who have done exactly what you claim has pissed everyone off.

Truthfully, is the problem because the coins were already gone, and therefore they weren't able to have been picked up by those in your party, or is the problem that previous finders came along while your 'party' was there because they wanted to log the coins?

Knowing party members have done this themselves, in the past, and having you say they're livid because of what happened (tho, as stated, it's kind of vague as to what they're pissed about) just kind of makes me shake my head.

It's a F'n* game, people. Coins come. Coins go. Enjoy the process. Log the cache. Move on. The trinks in the box are just that, trinks.

We are going to go together as a team on Sunday. Please reread my orignal post. It is not about the coins. If one finds a cache they should be able to trade items on their terms. If I come to a cache when somebody is already there I wait until they are done before signing the log and trading items. Peace, Nolenator

Even after re-reading your initial post, I still find your accusations vague. Having spent the entire day caching with one of the party members, it has all become gloriously clear as to what happened that day.

Instead of replying to you at the get go, I should have just contacted the party members in question. Pick up the phone, for gawd's sake. Much easier than this 2nd hand, 'what I heard' stuff.

I would agree what happened was in poor taste, but... um, er... posting about it here may have also been in poor taste.

Good luck locating the final this weekend. From all discussion had with the two that found it the other day, it sounds like it's a fabulous puzzle.
