+Panda Fan
My Dad has a Garmin GPS V with cd City Select. And I just bought a 60CS. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to use his software. Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
Yes. If he is running something older than verstion 5.X it's worth the upgrade. Older version were only good in metropolitan areas. 5.x picked up a lot of rural coverage. Edited September 3, 2004 by Renegade Knight Quote Link to comment
+welch
It should be possiable, but on at least city select 5 (maybe older too, and probablyl newer), you have to enter the gps serial to get it unlocked. Because buying the software only allows you to use it on like 2 gpsr, instead of like topo and others which can be upload to as many as you want. To do more than two you have to contact garmin and buy more unlocks. But if your father doesn't care your using up his other unlock, go for it. Quote Link to comment
+Brainerd
Welch touched upon the issue... Your dad's license for City Select will permit him to unlock it on two units. Yours would be #2. If he buys a new unit, he would not be able to unlock the maps for it. Quote Link to comment
