+herkojerko and justmecc Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 We are taking a driving trip from New Jersey to Maine or maybe even Canada next week. We were hoping some of some of you might know of some good caches to hit . Even caches along the way would be fine. Maybe Mass., Vermont, Maine, Conn., NY, NH. Your help would be greatly appreciated. +LisaS Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 What route will you be following through CT and how far off the highway are you thinking you'd like to travel? LisaS Quote
+IV_Warrior Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 You might get some better responses to this if you post it to the New England forum. There are quite a few cachers who only read their 'regional' forum. Quote
+herkojerko and justmecc Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 It's mostly just going to be caching trip, so we could follow any route. I was hoping to get a list of some really great caches and then decide the route. Thanks Quote
+briansnat Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 (edited) If you find yourself along Rout 9 in VT, check out this cache. It's a roadside cache, but anything but lame thanks to the views from the cache site. It's also cool to see a full sized cache container hidden in such a popular area. And while you're in the area, if you have time for a hike check out this cache which is next to a scenic waterfall (the highest in Vt according to the page) and this one which has incredible views (so I'm told, it was snowing when I went and there was nothing to see). There are a bunch of other caches along the Route 7/9 corridor from Albany to Route 91 in Brattleboro Vt. Most are roadside, or very short walks. None of them by itself is worth going out of your way for, but combined, they make a nice diversion along the way. There is also one at a NYS Thruway northbound rest stop but I forget which one. It might be the Plattekill rest area. Edited September 1, 2004 by briansnat Quote
