I haven't been able to find one in a local store. I would like to see a screen shot (an actual shot, not the ones I can find on Garmin's website) to see what the screen actually looks like.

This looks a little more like a real life picture with the backlight turned on, which this picture is from the previous post above this.

 

 

If it's like the color screen of the 60's and 76's, then this should work pretty good outdoors without any backlight.

 

Why is this thing called a Legend C, if it does not have a blue plastic case like the original Legend GPS, and it is a different shape from the old one??

I believe the "C" in Legend C is for "color". That is my best guess.

That's a good guess, and you're absolutely right!

But the differences between the Legend and Legend C are much more profound than that.

Which is a good reason why they should have used a different name. Marketing is everything, and by "borrowing" the legend name, many people are going to assume that the ONLY difference is the color screen. Etrex C and CS would have been good ones.
