What Is Your Trademark Item?

Team PEZ

Recommended Posts

You know what would be cool, although I don't know if it would work.......

You know how people collect Olympic pins? Wonder if we could somehow have a thread here, where people could trade sig items. I'll send you one of mine, if you send me one of yours kind of thing?

Of course, at the moment, I don't even HAVE a sig item..... ;)

Okay, here are the search terms I used, and I came up with nothing:

trade

sig item

sig items

signature item

signature items

exchange

I give up.

Pip, I'm guessing you didn't search back more than 30 days, which is the default setting on the search page. This trips up many people.

A search of the word "signature" in the topic title, going back farther, turned up this thread, which was the one I was thinking of.

Ahhhh........I didn't even know about changing it. I assumed it searched all threads from the beginning of time. Silly me. You know what they say about the word 'assume.' (Yeah, yeah, old joke.)

I have sig buttons and a couple of different cards. Been playing around with printing see-thru cards with good luck, but still having trouble laminating those. We also made up some engraved carabiners. I'm one of those cachers Kaelia said had a book of sig items. Been growing my collection in the last couple of weeks and now it's a 2 volume set.

I'm always looking for people to swap with, so shoot me an email if you're interested. I've even been known to send a geocoin for really good stuff.

Right now we’re using signature cards with a flag pin on it (everyone has to start some were). We just ordered some wooden nickels, they couldn’t do our avatar so had a bear paw print put on them instead. Just got a few t-shirts made with our avatar on the back and a bear paw print on the front. They were kind of expensive so not sure if they will see the inside of a cache or not.

I'm a n00b, but I've left rare promo Fluxx cards in almost every cache I've found.

What's Fluxx? It's a great card game! Check it out!

http://wunderland.com/LooneyLabs/Fluxx/Default.html

(No, I don't work for Looney Labs and am in no way compensated for the cards. I'm just hoping to introduce more people to a great game! ...for when the weather's too miserable to go out and geocache.)

When I run out of cards, I'll probably start leaving Anime Boston trinkets.

I use three different items depending on the situation...

Normal cache gets a Green plastic army man with my avatar attached like a dog tag.

Micro cache gets a mini green army man with avatar dog tag. This one will fit almost any micro cache

Finally, I just got a bunch of german army surplus camo sewing kits (Sgt Stitches...get it?). These I place in a cache that I really enjoy, or am a FTF, or I leave as a FTF prize option in the caches I hide.

Of course, my Kealia shot glass sig item is one of the coolest I've found... I had to go out a night and re-visit a cache in a pet cemetary to grab it though.... well worth it.

Other favorite sig items I've collected:

engraved spoon from Iron Chef

metal dogtags from Team Dakiba

an untral light alchohol burning camp stove by Rockman

El Jeffe Rhino Pin

Wintertime crystal snowflake

Fishpoet/cachefan/stantastic casino chip "Invade San Jose" event item

Marky and Joani Smashed Penny

Kablooey Smashed coin

oh... and almost forgot... my Touchstone Marshmellow gun

Like I said, I don't have a signature item yet, but I've collected a few:

Earthling's engraved aluminum medal (the coolest sig item I've seen yet!)

RedSalmon's little glass fish

Guidedawg's little plastic dalmation

Team Tigger International's signature keyring

Lord Padishar's handmade 'LP' medalion

Good Dog's wooden dog bone with his username and location stamped on it

Geo Jim's smashed penny with the St. Louis Gateway Arch on it

See-through glass pebble with a smiley icon showing through it and a magnet attached to the back

and various laminated sig cards and personalized pin-back buttons.

my trademark item is a PEZ dispenser with a sticker on it that says "team PEZ was here"

and of course, i glue a magnet on the PEZ, place it in a small baggie to keep dry, and then find a great magnetic place to hide a new cache!

I'm glad that when our team started geocaching earlier this year, we started collecting sig items around when we found our 20th cache. We went to a NWOGEO event cache, our monthly "meet and eat." Here we spoke with Team Hydnckr, who explained the sig item to us! We liked the idea of these unique, personal items!!!

Since then, we have collected the Cinti Chili Magnet from Scook, the good dog bone, the 03 block and 04 domino from Serenity Now. One of the neatest is a "tree" quilted patch from Bobada. Team Soaring have sandblasted logo tiles and window decals that are cool, too. I have a shoebox full of keychains, wooden nickles and sig cards/patches/magnets!

We'll post ours ASAP, we started using sig items at out 100th find (I guess we felt like "established" cachers at that point). Ours is a steel laser cut "BlackBrownDogBone"; you're pretty likely to find one currently in the Oak Openings region west of Toledo.

I'd like to find one of Pipanella's "book thongs"... love them beads!

(blushes) Butg i still haven't been invited over to drink the margaritas that he uses it for!

I do have to say that the Marshmallwo guns are awesome as well! I think Touchstone credits Mudfrog (maybe someone else) for the idea.

I'm going to work on making more this weekend, and the weird thing is, I'm at 100 finds right now, too, and I'm just now starting to use my sig item! (I still have to log the 100th...)

I hope you find one of my book thongs, too! And we're going to take a trip to Toledo one of these days to do a bunch of caches, so maybe we'll run across one of yours, too!

I finally got my sig items made and received them a couple days ago.

They are

kompass.jpg

- a Compass with Chinese Characters (I also have Chinese Characters in my Avatar) that you can attach to a lanyard or a keychain, I plan to add a card explaining the characters

schluesselanhaenger.jpg

- an expandable keychain that has a clip on the back, the key chain part can be pulled out (similar to a tape measure) on a wire

Both have my Nick and an adapted round GC Logo on them.

I was hesitant for a long time, as I was not sure if these were useful at all to other cachers. Also they were much more expensive than other (not personalised) items I could find, but I really wanted something personalised. I have a bag full of non personalized items and I trade very rarely, but I often leave something, without taking anything.

I also had some additional stickers made, in case at a later point in time I come across other suitable items I could use those stickers to personalize them.

I especially wanted to have those items to put something as little "thank you for this cache" in caches I find on vacations. As in my home area I can give back to the community by placing caches (although with expectations shifting to a higher level this has become much harder lately) but in other countries I can't do that.

Anybody interested in one of these items, watch out for them in caches in Nevada in October!

Happy Caching!

Our sig item is Riggin. The logo on his chest is representative of the Arthritis Foundation logo. Our 8 year old daughter has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (diagnosed @ age 2).

This is our way to help get the word out that "Kids Get Arthritis Too". Check out our profile or http://www.gotcache.com/jra for more info.

I've been leaving tiny ships in a bottle. I picked up a dozen or so at a knick knack store once upon a time. I'm an avid sailor and diver, and my (so far) only placed cache is a scuba (underwater) one so somehow the ship idea fit.

Sorry, no digital camera - but these little items are about 2" long and an inch tall, made of real glass with a wooden stopper in the neck, and have a tiny fully-rigged wooden ship with paper sails contained within. I have two models; a square rigger in an oblong bottle (on its side, fitted to a little wooden black so it will stand on display) and a round bellied bottle sitting upright that contains a gaff schooner.

That reminds me, I should hit the shop again and see if they have any more......

Our sig item is a die cut Ruby Slipper magnet. We leave a sig card at every cache we visit, and our magnet at many. We have collected lots of interesting signature items, and many sig cards. Other than these things, we rarely take anything from caches. Our reward is the hunt!

Although we are new to Geocaching.....members of our "team"....including "Sue" and "Dakota Bazbo" plan to leave items which have the Wyoming trademark, the "bucking horse and rider."

athleticscolorlogo.jpg

Our plan is to leave a variety of items....from a sticker on a card.....to a magnet....to a shot glass....etc., etc. , etc.

So if you get something with this symbol....we hope it's from us.

Assimilated golf balls.  I take used golf balls out of geocaches, clean them, stamp them, put them in a baggie with a special card and number, and use them as signature items.  I hate just used golf balls (new ones aren't bad) so I figure this adds some kind of value to them.

There will be a $9 million study next year to determine if my efforts have effected any change.

I have yet to find one...hopefully soon though now that I am getting into a good flow (had some things holding me up on caching when I just started...)

:(

Trippy, UMC and VictoryMike all drove down to an event in Indiana together...Trippy offered one of his assimilated Golf Balls to me...I declined ecause I want to find one in a cache...I didn't want to take the easy way out :(

I am starting to think I shoulda grabbed it and ran!...anyway, I wanted to say that VictoryMikes Chainmail Keychains are also a highly sought after Sig Item in Michigan...and I do have one of those! :(

Since I like to fish a lot, I leave a small bag with a fishing lure that I know will work in the area of the cache. I place my sig card in the bag with it. Fishing lures are fairly inexpensive and those who lose them fishing seem to appreciate it... kinda the same idea as TroutGuy78.
