I received a Garmin E-Trex Camo for Christmas, intending to use it just for my hunting and fishing forays. Then I discover this site and it looks like I may have a new hobby starting. I've been reading these posts since Christmas and finding out more and more about this sport from everyone here. So much so that I went and bought the data cable for my GPS and downloaded the new firmware, EasyGPS, and the first cache I intend to go after. But, before I did all of this, I just wanted to get my feet wet, so to speak, and say Hi to everyone here and thank everyone for the tips/tricks I have learned in the forums.

I wonder how many people we've pulled in to geocaching just by having them wander across the site... icon_smile.gif

Welcome to the addiction, SirRonny!

I used to live in St. Louis and traveled to PB regularly. There has to be a couple of gazillion places to hide a cache down there!

Happy Hunting!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Yeah GLSailor, there is one thing about this country, there is a gazillion places to hide stuff here with all the National Forest land. I am orginally from Northern Illinois, and miss the 4 seasons you get up there, plus all the great fishing in Wisconsin. Anyway, happy hunting to everyone and hope to talk to you all again on here!

welcome SirRonny, as others have pointed out you'll probably use your GPS a whole lot more for caching then hunting or fishing, I bought mine for travelling and backcountry camping and the vast majority of it's use has been for caching.... but I can stop whenever I want..... really I can... smokin.gif

derful MeriGold have ever suffered damage from falls, scrapes, scratches, pockets, under-seat token ring cards, or anything else. (Although the real reason I kept my MAP 330 was just in case I ever have a mishap... and it lets me lend it to fellow travellers on the few times I have people around.)

mikechim - I think I have heard this before you before. Just come out and say it in front of us all and you will feel so much better afterwards. Repeat after me. My name is mikechim and I am a geocaching addict! There doesn't that feel better? Thanks for the welcome.

clayjar - is an under-seat token ring card anything like a 5-speed, V-8 powered Ethernet card?

Hello SirRonny. I always wanted to get a gps to let me know where I was (which for the most part I allready knew). Then my wife

told me about Geocaching. I bought her a gps for her birthday and I've been hooked ever since. She is kind of mad because I use it more then she does (she's hooked to geocaching too), and "HER" truck too.

Happy "HUNTING"......

Hi Steak N Eggs..back when I as married, I always new where I was too, or it least if I didn't, my wife always told me where to go. Good to hear that you have her hooked too, but isn't there something in the law about possession being a large percentage of ownership? You have been using HER GPS for caching and using HER truck to get there, so doesn't that make it YOUR GPS and YOUR truck? Or is this why I'm not married anymore? Anyway, take care and talk to you later...
