+murfster
As a newbie (37 found ), I wonder how to best convert UTM to Lat/Long or Lat/Long to UTM? There are websites I have found that will do it, but wonder about software to use when I have no internet connection. Any suggestions? +PDOP's
Hi Murfster Most of the freeware mapping programs will convert between the various formats and also do conversions between datums and communicate with your GPSr for uploading of data. Have a look at GPS Trackmaker which is freeware from Brazil. PDOP's GPS Pages Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
Depending on the make and model of your GPS, most conversions can be done when you change the settings. Tahosa - Dweller of Mountain Tops. Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
If you're entering UTM coordinates from a USGS map, keep in mind most of these maps are in NAD27 Datum. You should set the GPS to that Datum before you enter the coordinates otherwwise it will be incorrect. After entering it, set your GPS to dd mm.mmm and WGS84 Datum and you'll have the coordiante is a position and Datum that we use on these caching pages. Of course the opposite approach works when transferring the other way. Alan Quote Link to comment
+BigBirdNL
I have an Excel based convertor on my site in the download area. I can easily change the mass convertor to work both ways. It now only shows from WGS84 to UTM. Let me know if you could use two-way. BigBird CacheMaps homepage Quote Link to comment
