+Kfam
We are checking in to the possibility of becoming a Northwest sales and distribution point. Looks like just the ticket for the cutting edge cachers! We should be getting a demonstration unit soon. TDS Recon Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
In all honestly. No. It's a specialized piece of equipment. For my purposes I need a more general PDA to use for caching, business, and personal use. If I had cause to be out and using my PDA in harsh conditions then maybe so. For now it's easy enough to slip the PDA into my pack and use it in the car or when I need a clue. Quote Link to comment
+Gonzo-YT
I use my Palm Tungsten T2 PDA in the office and for business travel, and then I take it out into the bush using an Otterbox. This makes it totally waterproof, crush resistant, and still usable in the case. I can't see using something like that in a business meeting. www.otterbox.com Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
I'm thinkin' that cachers are NOT going to be a strong market for this. You should probably hang out with land surveyers, site work construction (land-clearing operations, road-laying, sewer/drainage line laying), and maybe cartographers. At $1,000 a pop, I'd rather put my hard-earned bucks into a Garmin 2610. ...Just my 2¢ Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
NO. I wouldn't pay $1000 for anything running any PPC OS. This thing looks like something aimed at people with more dollars than sense. Quote Link to comment
Peregrine007
Looks like something that some of the more extreme teams up here may be interested in - at Team Phoenix we're always looking around at gear that's more rugged than your standard spec, for some of the X-Treme GPS Team contests which can take us out to some rather harsh climates and conditions for days, even weeks at a time. We're always interested in gear that can take more abuse and handle the rigors of long days in the extreme cold and wet, or hot and dry conditions according to where out contests take us. +Kfam
Interest by just one in five would be plenty. I've seen more than one posting about being afraid of taking a frail handheld out caching. Catering to the more outdoorsy type, yes this is specialized. Quote Link to comment
+as77
What happens if the screen gets hit? I guess it would break. It looks like the device doesn't have integrated Bluetooth. That's bad. How are you going to connect a GPS to this device? If you use CF, the GPS will be unprotected and you can forget about ruggedness and waterproofness. Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
For that amount of money I could buy a garmin 60c and 10 Palm IIIxe's with change for gas - and they would do everything I want/need for geocaching, thanks but no thanks. Quote Link to comment
