+Kfam
I seem to remember a drawing or sketch showing a quad helix antenna as four coils in a cross shape. From recently posted pictures of a dogbit cover, it looks like a single coil. Also, all the Garmin descriptions and manuals only call it a "helix", without the quad. Many posters here tout the awesome powers of the "quad helix" of these units. I'm very happy with my 60CS but just a bit curious. Any experts out there that can straighten me out? +as77
It's quad, the Garmin page says so as well. Quote Link to comment
+DBleess
http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap60c/spec.html spec page says "quadrifilar" No idea what that means. Quote Link to comment
+RocketMan
From the 60cs page on the Garmin Website. -WAAS GPS receiver with accuracy to 10 feet in North America; built-in quad-helix antenna for better satellite reception Quote Link to comment
+Couparangus
For what its worth, I have an eMap (planar antenna) and a GPSmap76s (helix antenna) and both work equally well (or equally poorly) under canopy. I was expecting the GPSmap76 to work better at deep-woods caching than the eMap but that doesn't appear to be the case. Welcome any comparison betwixt the 60c and these older units.
