Parsa
Why is the geocaching.com favicon such funky colors? http://www.geocaching.com/favicon.ico I would think it would be pretty easy to use the normal colors since the icon is all over the web site. Parsa Link to comment

Parsa
Seriously, to me it's purple and blue (actually a bit like magenta and cyan). Maybe I just see the world through rose colored glasses. Parsa Edited August 6, 2004 by Parsa Link to comment
Parsa
It looks OK in Netscape 7. The problem seems to be with my Safari browser. Normally favicons look fine, but this one is weird. Maybe the image doesn't stick to the strictest favicon standards or something. This is what it looks like in my Safari browser: Parsa Link to comment

Parsa
Well, that's just odd. I'm using Safari 1.0.2, and it looks strange, but is OK in Netscape. Why would my copy of Safari screw up the colors so badly on this one icon? Even when look at the file by clicking on the link it looks larger, but still has the strange colors. Parsa Link to comment
+Lil Devil
The favicon "standard" (I use that term loosely) refers to *.ico files containing 16x16x8bit and 32x32x8bit icons. The file on geocaching.com contains 24bit icons. I suspect that Safari is not converting the unexpected bit depth properly, while the other browsers are more forgiving. Link to comment
