Geocaching.com Favicon

It looks OK in Netscape 7. The problem seems to be with my Safari browser. Normally favicons look fine, but this one is weird. Maybe the image doesn't stick to the strictest favicon standards or something.

This is what it looks like in my Safari browser:

Well, that's just odd. I'm using Safari 1.0.2, and it looks strange, but is OK in Netscape. Why would my copy of Safari screw up the colors so badly on this one icon? Even when look at the file by clicking on the link it looks larger, but still has the strange colors.

The favicon "standard" (I use that term loosely) refers to *.ico files containing 16x16x8bit and 32x32x8bit icons. The file on geocaching.com contains 24bit icons. I suspect that Safari is not converting the unexpected bit depth properly, while the other browsers are more forgiving.
