We are preparing for a trip from the Seattle area to San Francisco, so I loaded it with maps for the route. Have the maps whittled down to 31.9 MB to leave room for all the caches. Got 5 caches loaded, but it won't take any more. I hit "send" on EasyGPS, but they do not appear on the GPSr. Can't figure out how to get it to accept caches now! I have tried removing the maps to free up the memory, but it makes no difference. Also tried powering it off and replacing the batteries. What is wrong, and how do I get it to load more caches? Quote

What version of Easy GPS are you using? Are you using the USB cable? If you are, then you need V1.3.7 that has support for USB. How many caches are you trying to load at a time? Quote

+Wienerdog Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 To see all of the waypoints you currently have on the 60, use Receive From GPS in Mapsource and check the Waypoint box. The downloaded WPs will be displayed in the WP tab in Mapsource along with the waypoint symbols. This will show you what you already have loaded and if you are close to or at the 1000 point limit. Another thing to check is waypoints by name or waypoints nearest on the 60. If you are using nearest it will only show WPs that are close. In nearest mode a WP in Oregon would not show up until you got close enough. I don’t know what the nearest “distance” is but it will hide all of your WPs down south. If you are at the WP limit the quickest fix is to Delete all in the 60. If you have waypoints you want to save you can selectively restore them from Mapsource back to the 60. As far as memory is concerned use all you want for the maps. The waypoint memory block is not associated with the mapping memory in any way. Hope this helps. Quote

+GOT GPS? Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 If you are not near many caches, listing by NEAREST will not help. Change it to BY NAME. Many people have had this problem with garmins. My Meridian Platinum was able to sort ALL waypoints by NEAREST, but not GARMIN. Quote

I have all the caches I want to load already saved as files so all I need to do is send them to the GPSr. I have done this successfully many times for local caches. After I loaded the maps for our trip, I loaded the first two files successfully (total of 5 caches). Then it stopped taking them. I send them to the GPSr, but they do not appear there. I tried looking at the waypoints in Mapsource the way you told me, Wienerdog. It says the GPS is not responding. This unit freezes on me every now and then - don't know if that is a factor. Usually I can overcome that by removing/replacing the batteries and turning it on again, but it makes no difference with this problem. I'm glad the maps and waypoints don't share memory. Now I can load a more complete set of maps for the trip. Quote

Check your find by name list and see if they are all there. Either way, the first 50 or 110 miles seems to be enough advance notice on a caching trip. It has not been a problem we have ever really noticed out in the field. Quote
