ju66l3r
Was trying to see if it was possible to sort all of the TBs by distance, but I couldn't find an easy way to see all of them in a search. My own traditional TB has gone from Boston to Florida to Boston to Canada to Hawaii to Louisiana to Connecticut in only a little more than a year! He's racked up nearly 15,000 miles by going from one cache to one holder to one cache..and so on! Has anyone seen a good "farthest mileage" list lately of the TBs to compare that to? I'd like to keep certain classes of TBs separate. For example, worldtraveler's personal TB has a few hundred thousand miles...but never leaves his hands. Another TB has 12 different tags with the number on it, and as each one is logged it confuses the mileage count. Another couple I found with high mileage have been to the TB Graveyard and back (adding 14,000 miles to them in the process). So, what is the highest mileage of a traditional one-tag, one-bug, from cache to holder to cache (different holder each time) Travel Bug currently? Quote Link to comment
+Sparky-Watts
I'd like to see a list of the top 10 furthest travelled bugs, those that have travelled in a traditional manner, from cache to cacher to cache to cacher. I have one that jumped from Kansas to Alaska to Massachusetts and is nearing 7,000 miles! Unfortunately, it just landed in a TB hotel with a couple dozen other TB's that has a take one/leave one rule. I fear it may be stuck for quite a while. Quote Link to comment

I fear it may be stuck for quite a while. Let me know if it sits very long. That one's not close by, but it's within my range. I've just started releasing TB's and I'd hate for one of mine to get stuck in roach motel masquerading as a bug hotel. Say...I just had an idea for a TB: Auntie Weasel's Magic Key. When you put it in a TB hotel, you have to take out all the other TB's in the cache. I could use a laminated Monopoly Get Out Of Jail Free card. Whaddya think? Would I be the most hated woman among geohoteliers everywhere, or what? Bwahahaha! Edited to add: I've just clicked on all the bugs in that cache, and they've all been put there within the last week or so by names I recognize. Maybe that's actually a really good, fast-moving hotel... Edited July 26, 2004 by AuntieWeasel Quote Link to comment

But when you do it, take a monopoly hotel and drill a hole in the top so you can chain it on along with the card! How appropriate! Quote Link to comment

ju66l3r
Bueller? Bueller? Anybody have any ideas on how to see a top 10 of TB distances? I'll do the post-filtering of the personal and otherwise TBs... Quote Link to comment
+AuntieWeasel
Anybody have any ideas on how to see a top 10 of TB distances? Oh, uhhh...<koff>...yeah. Wouldn't you need access to raw database records to re-sort them that way? Which would make this a question for the website area, wouldn't it? Quote Link to comment
ju66l3r
<bump> Anyone currently tracking a long-traveled TB that fits the definition I laid out a year ago? Interestingly, I had thought my TB lost to the fates when it disappeared for 8 months (shortly after the original post in this topic), but it's back andin good working order again! It has still moved from one cacher to a cache to a new cacher and has very accurate mileage. The 8 month waylay has slowed down his pace and kept him right around 15,000 miles for his first 2 years. I'm still interested in parsing through all of the tens-of-thousands of mile TBs to find which ones meet my strict criteria and then comparing them to my own. With my TB's waylay it seems others have since passed him readily...but it'd still be interesting to see how he measures up. All that I ask is that the TB: Never have been to a "TB Graveyard" cache Not have ever been a "Virtual" TB Not be a personal mileage TB Be retrieved from cache A by cacher #1 Be placed in cache B by the same cacher (cacher#1) Be retrieved from the second cache (cache by a different cacher (cacher #2)..and so on If you can point me to any TBs like this with over 15,000 miles, I'd appreciate it. SMDMD
Check out "Cache Dashing Dakiba (TB63D0), it logged 91273 miles. It helped that it looked to have travel from Alaska to Antarctica (the "old map" shows that, anyway) and it helped that one geocacher escorted it for quite a ways too. That pretty interesting, to me anyway. Quote Link to comment
+budd-rdc
A simple filter would be to create an index based on mileage, number of different cachers who logged the TB, and number of different caches visited. You can then filter out any TBs in the hands of the owners. Personally, I'm more interested in the longest surviving TBs. I've run across a few with tracking numbers in 3xxxxx range, and a handful in the 2xxxxx range. Most of these oldies would have acquired quality mileage if they are still travelling. +run4cache
"The Mini Jeepney" travel bug of mine is at 33972 miles and still going strong. It's been fun seeing it hop slowly around the globe (Europe, Asia, North America -- now in Saudi Arabia). It's been going since December of 2002. Quote Link to comment
+AuntieWeasel
My own Doorknob of Serendipity has logged 15,422.2mi since September 2004. I took it the first hop myself, from Rhode Island to England. It went from England to Spain to England to Trinidad and Tobago to England to the Netherlands, where it's been now for some time. Cool, huh? My second most seasoned traveler is Figure Five in Gold at 10,885.5mi in a year. It toodled around the area for a while, then hopped to New Mexico, then England, then Finland, then Saudia Arabia in three quick jumps. A most peculiar sequence. Quote Link to comment
+lmcgisme
My own TB Prancin' Pony has traveled 16,328.2 miles since January, 2006. I started its first big jump, starting it close to home then taking it to Thailand. Someone picked it up in Thailand, and brought it all the way back to Canada - in two jumps it had 15,000+ miles. The mission was to travel the world - not come back home, but the last cache it was in is less than 500 miles from me! Hopefully it will start heading away again, instead of ever closer. +tiger351w
I was also wondering how to search out how far TB's have traveled. My daugters TB Princess Aurora (TBQ7HC) has traveled 47903.3 miles as of today. We released her Feb 22, 2006. It is currently in Budapest Hungry, and has travelled throughout the US, Hawaii, England, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Iceland, Poland, Alaska. I was wondering if there was a hall of fame of sorts for the most miles etc. Rob Quote Link to comment
+reveritt
My Wanna Bee travel bug has gone 21,375 miles in about one year. It's been to the UK, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and many of the United States. Quote Link to comment
+mikemtn
My From Jonjaben Bug has been on the road for about 5 1/2 years and has over 30,000 mostly legitimate miles. He's the 106th TB so he's got some age on him. Wonder how many human years 5 1/2 Tb years is. I'd say he's very old. Quote Link to comment

+mikemtn
He's been through some trying times in his travels. It's taken many emails sometimes to get him moving again. I don't have a good feeling about him this time. Mike Quote Link to comment
+intrinsic
I, too, have tried to see if there is a way to check Geocaching for the highest traveled bugs, but I found nothing. One of my four TB's, Kins & Dids, has traveled 25,075 miles because it started in CA and went to Mexico, the East coast, then Australia and back. +BBWolf+3Pigs
My TB "1492" has logged 28837.6 mi, traveling almost totally in a westerly direction! It crossed the US, jumped to Australia, was brought to the Philippines (where it met it's goal) and then back to Australia. It was then brought to Poland where it is waiting for it's next move, hopefully closer to it's starting point in Rhode Island. Quote Link to comment
