Navigator16171
Is it safe to specify home coordinates in the member profile? Isn't that nearly equivalent to posting a home address on the internet for anyone to view? Quote Link to comment
+Stunod
These coordinates are not displayed in your public profile. They are only used as a centerpoint for your own cache searches. Quote Link to comment

And if you THAT worried about it, walk to the middle of the block and take the coords, it'll still be close enough for basic searches, bug vague enough not to pinpoint any one house. +Renegade Knight
I've been in the phone book for years with no problems. Of course I take less heat in real life than I do in the forums so maybe you have a good point. Quote Link to comment

Mittellegi
And don't forget to put a return address on your keyring, and your licenc(s)e plate number too, just for good measure... Edited July 16, 2004 by bexybear Quote Link to comment
dampeoples
How often does that happen, really? Like has been said before, you are most likely in the phone book, if youhave a domain, the whois info will give you away, heck, I have my address and number on my site, no problems so far Quote Link to comment

+The Geocache Hunter
There is only problem I could possibly see with home coordinates. Disgruntled Artillery Crewmen who couldn't find your cache could fire a barrage at you. Quote Link to comment

+NightPilot
Just drop a couple or 3 decimal places, and your possible locations grows exponentially. Just post the degrees and minutes, and there are likely lots of houses within that area, and the search will still work. If your ranch is close to the size of the King Ranch, though, you may need to expand a little further, maybe to just the nearest degree, and that might be too specific. It's like putting 9898 Elm St, or the 9000 block of Elm St, or just Elm St, or just OurTown, OH. Depends on how much anonymity you need. Edited July 19, 2004 by NightPilot Quote Link to comment
