dmenn
Hi all, I just purchased a 76CS, and I'm loving it. I ordered the Auto Nav Kit online from Amazon, so with that I'll get City Select. My question is --> I do some boating up in NY in the Hudson River (near Newburgh, NY, ~60 miles north of NYC) and also in Lake George (upstate NY). What Mapsend software will be best for me, that could provide me some nice detail for the Hudson River and Lake George? I'd like as many waterway points as possible (docks, marinas, boat landings, bouys, depth, hazards, etc) Two big ones I've read about are Blue Chart and Recreational Lakes and Fishing Hot Spots. Can anyone with experience with any water mapping software please chime in on this one? I have been looking on the net to try and find a comparison of some of the mapping programs, but haven't had much luck. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Dave Quote Link to comment
spexmaniac
The Garmin website has sample maps for most of its software packages, and it allows you to look at the areas you wish to use it on, I'd try there first. I have USA waterways and lights but being in the UK and not owning a boat, Ive never tried it ;-) Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
dmenn, You will be blown away by Garmin's Mapsource "US Recreational Lakes and Fishing Hotspots East, V5". It has very detail maps of both the Hudson River and Lake George. Here's a link: http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/reclakesEast.jsp I have this software and I'm very happy with it.
