+Dynamic-Duo Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Hi all, I'm brand new to Geocaching, but have found my first two caches with out a GPS... Probably Dumb luck! I am looking to buy a used GPs unit. From what I can tell it being WAAS enabled is important. Please e-mail me if you have anything for sale. patrick@fairwaybr.com Thanks, Patman of Dynamic-Duo Quote
Computerdood Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Just my opinion, but I have had 6 GPS units in the last four months...And found 25 Caches without WAAS. So you have to decide...The CEP (Circular Error Probability) is usually 13-20 feet...With clues, I can usually find most caches. I have a yellow ETREX that I wm looking to sell. It has a DATA CABLE/12 VOLT CIG Adapter (combo Cable), a Neopreme Case with Clear viewing window (so you can use the unit while the case is on), and the original manual. I purchased the GPSr for $80, the Cable for $15, and the Case for $15. I am looking to get $75.00 Shipped. This is a great beginners GPS. Using EasyGPS and GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) software (free on the Internet) you can upload/download Waypoints. The Cheapest WAAS GPS units run about $100-130. and you need the software for the mapping part. So consider this unit. Let me know if you are interested. Quote
+JeepCachr Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 If WAAS is important to you check out the foretrex 101. New its $125, the foretrex 201 is a really good deal at $140 considering it includes the data cable and rechargeable battery. Quote
